Default Turbo 5.3 70 Nova progect

Looking for some direction. I have a complete 5.3 out of a 02 Tahoe and im trying to come up with a starting point and advice. I want to build a driveable turbo motor for my Nova. Want good power but also want reliability and longevity. Any input is much appreciated

Google “Sloppy Mechanics” and you’ll see the recipes he uses for his builds. Upgrade what you’d like. I think you’ll find it helpful. Million ways to skin a cat. I’ll give you one piece of advice, if you’re looking to keep the current trans in the same place (forward and backward), use a 1 inch setback motor mount adapter. Good luck

Lots of nova/turbo builds on here. Do you have good fabrication skills, do you have a
budget. You need a budget, otherwise you wont know how far over that you went, lol.
How much power do you want, ET goal. I haven't had much luck with junkyard engines,
so I pull them down, clean, new rings, cam bearings, cheap stuff, but then you know
what you have. A 4l80E is a good choice if you want OD, otherwise a turbo 400 is about
as cheap yet strong a trans you will get.
As said, ck out sloppy mechs, some good stuff there-do a lot of searching on here, prob find
all your answers. You can burn thru 10K quick, lol.

5.3 with twin snails in the 58-62mm compressor range with T3 rears around 1.00A/R. will make ample power and be responsive. for ultimate reliability just keep the boost level reasonable.

5.3 single BW 66mm T4 1.10 rear would be not too bad either.

or if ridiculous power excites you then 5.3 twin 66mm T3 rears around 1.06 would party as would a single BW 75mm T6 single with 1.10 rear. the T6 single 75mm or 80mm units will be pretty lazy to get up on boost though.

if you're sticking with pump gas then that will be your limiting factor and twin T3 58-62mm turbos will be more than enough but still stay responsive-ish on 5.3 single 66mm T4 on pump gas will be pretty good but lazier than twin T3 58mm units.

if you're happy to run E85 then the bigger options are worth exploring.

the boring, adult me would suggest first sitting down writing a list of everything you want to do to the car and estimate a cost to start constructing a build budget, that estimates cost allocations may dictate a few options or steer the combos direction. better starting with a rough budget and finishing it then going in ***** out and not finishing it because its eaten all your coin before completion
