Default Questionable scavenge pump (pic inside)

So I thought my turbo laid down on me a couple weeks ago, ordered a new CHRA, installed it..... and while heading to the track the car started smoking again. I thought the scavenge pump was just a simple direct drive with a gear that moved oil, so if the motor energizes... then it should pump, not so. When I disassembled the pump i noticed 3 drives that all had diaphrams, but one had a small tear. Anyone have any experience with this happening, and where can these diaphrams be bought? I googled, as well as went directly to turbowerx...... nothing.

Man, that sucks. Hope you find a solution.

I hate the the idea of having to use a scavenge pump, but with my turbo location, it’s gonna be necessary.

A friends' customers car needed some warranty work and turbowerx had him go through Turbo Technology in tacoma, washington. called them up, told them the issue and they had him send it in, fixed it and sent it back in a week.

Yea, but for how much? One of my track buddies has a new on3 pump he's letting my have for $40 plus shipping. It looks to be a rebranded shurflo, only thing I'm worried about is the temp rating.

What about one of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-Amarine...p/122810147073

Edit: No experience with one - just wondering.

Turbowerx Exa is not like that.

That's a shitty diaphragm pump...doubt it would ever be a sensible idea for hot oil.

Same idea as most methanol pumps these days, you can buy replacement heads/parts for them ok....or any cheap water type pump.

Most methanol pumps these days are an Aquatec DDP5800 or derivative.

I bought a cheap China pump like that for a nosey. I guess it looks like any gear type pump. As to how long it might last etc is another matter but it is certainly capable of moving oil ( I used it to shift some heating oil/kerosene once ). I think any of those generic pumps like also need to be mounted vertically too.

Really...do it right first time, Get an Exa.

This pump won't withstand the heat of oil straight off of a turbo.

It would stand more chance than a shitty diaphragm pump as at least it has metal gears.

I was wrong. I thought it was the same pump that I was looking at the other day, description of said pump was good to 65 degrees Celsius. Wouldn't be much good to me.

I know they're expensive...but the Exa just plain works.

I've had mine for around 3-4 years now with zero issues.

I used the ebay brass gear electric pump everyone sells for awhile when i was rear mount. It pumped good but would drip oil on my driveway from the electric motor. Not alot but im a freak about leaks so i ditched it for a shurflo. Lasted about 3 months quit pumping. Got a warranty same deal few months stopped pumping. Bought a turbowerx and used it happily till i moved to front mount a year later. Sold it to a buddy 3 years ago and he still uses it today no failures. So ive tried all the usual routes and if i did it again id go turbowerx immediatly.

Get the Turbowerx and be done with it.

I researched loads before I bought mine, good reports far outweighed the bad of others so figured for peace of mind it was worth paying the extra. And the Exa can be mounted in any position, most other pumps stated they had to be vertical as there didnt seem to be a great sealing system between the drive section and motor section.

And then there were some who said a lot of other pumps are noisy. My Exa is pretty quiet, certainly nothing you'd ever be concerned about with the engine running. The shitty Holley intake makes far more noise when running !!
