Default Boosted LQ9 408 head choices

Boosted LQ9 408.

What heads are the fast cars running these days on this setup? For the turbo, is the GT91mm the correct choice? Flow numbers and dyno numbers from the vendors are nice and all, but I want to know what is actually being RAN with good results.

Stock unported 317s have been in the 7s on 402-408" LS engines.

You haven't stated goals, budget, fuel type, etc.

A 370 is certainly an option but from what I've been told there's way more 408 setups running mid 8's than there are 370s.

So my car is heavy, currently sitting at 3800 lbs. I'd like to be at 1200 hp through a TH400, shooting for mid 8's without having to worry about lifting the heads. If I can keep the long block under $12k that would be great. Doing an LSX 387 certainly puts me over that and the idea of spending that coin on a block that is only going to be a 387 rather than something like a 454 just doesn't sound like the best bang for buck. Fuel can be anything, 93, E85, C116, meth injection so lets just assume that we are going to put the CR at 9.5 - 10.0 so that I can run pump gas on the street around 800hp. If I can do this using CHRS1313 dual pump setup that would be great, if not, I have no problem with putting the money into a solid fuel system. I'll most likely get a holly dominator setup to control it all.

Do I go with stock unported 317s and put the money into the rotating assembly instead? Can I even meet the HP goal with those heads? On a setup like this, is it worth running a dragonslayer crank and the callies ultra I beams or will I be fine with something like compstar 4340 and TSP super I beams for that HP level?

Our 317 CNC ported with Ferrea valves and PAC .660 springs are an excellent boost head. They are $1489 for the pair. Let me know if I can get you more info.

Heard good things about those heads. Can you PM me some more details on your setup? How much did it put down, what turbo, what psi, what can, etc?
