Am I crazy for turning this kind of rpm? And timing?

Just means I have a better shot at keeping that SBE together along with the stock 4L60E

when I get on it, the iats drop. It’s usually 117f or below. I put the timing at 17 but I think when I get home I’m gonna put it at 16 to be safe. Seems like that’s what most people have theirs at. I think I’m gonna create a thread about that if you guys don’t mind

7400RPM at times here stock bottom. 250 shot. Traps about 135.
I'm not worried yet.

You should be looking at what your optimal shift RPM should be, not what you can safely run the motor out to. Get it on a dyno and/or a track and see what the car likes best. You have a 78/75, right? I am shifting mine at 6500 as it seems like what most sbe street cars are doing. Some of the 5.3 guys with large frame turbos are running them out to 7500+, but these are track cars.

yes I have a 7875. It seems to pull good to 7000ish. I have a decent sized cam which is why I think it wants to go that high. Original plans was to put a smaller cam in it but I may not. Seems to run quite well as it is. I just want to do what I can to help it stay together.

Most of the 04 LS1s are the heavy duty floating rods. They can take much more RPM and power than a typical LS1.
As long as the tune stays good, you're not going to hurt it anytime soon.

thats how mine is now. I’m dialing it in. I’m pretty impressed with your car. If you don’t mind, pm me and tell me a little more about it. I’m not trying to quite as fast as you, my car is a bit heavier but mid 10’s would be nice.

I need to clear this up, the car in the video is not mine (guy at my semi local track). The point was to show that it doesn't necessarily take exotic parts to go fast, and be fairly reliable. It's a bottom 9 second car btw.

Ended up running a best of 10.8 @ 123ish on a mild heads/cam/fast combo. Then i sold it and went 5.3/turbo.

Its amazing to me how many people DONT get that. They want to spend 3-5k for a pair of cylinder heads to be slower under the guise of NA is better and more reliable which is a load of crap.

I fought it a long time too. Didnt wanna step out of my comfort zone, and also didnt like plug clearance with some turbo manifolds and all the piping under the hood. What sold me was seeing a truck manifold turbo kit from huron speed. They don't muck up under the hood. Then i went and chopped the whole front of the car off.

Yeah some of the manifolds I've seen are awful. The truck style is good and anything that uses a stock manifold is good. Even a few of the tubular ones are good, but some just flat out suck.

You can run faster shifting a turbo car at 6200, than most heads cam cars will ever run. All the while, they are next to you shifting @ 8500 fighting a losing battle.
