For small and stupid fast spool the Turbonetics TC7868 get my vote, the compressor housing is very small and the 68mm turbine lights off almost instantly.

one of the vendors has said this is the fastest spooling turbo that size and price, and I'll add twins (w/.81 housings) have been in the 7's. @ 180? Guys make fun and their so mismatched blah blah blah. Borgs always shoved in your face in here is ridiculous, bigger, heavier and sometimes not any cheaper...

Have pretty much narrowed it down to either tc7868 or s366 , price difference is not that big. Also the s363 link posted by stevieturbo looks tempting . Would be nice to hear to hear from people that have tried these turbos on a 4.8 .

I find it hilarious that you want a quick spooling turbo and then consider a 78mm as an option. You, and the others, have to remember that you don't have a 5.7 or a 6.0. You have a low compression 4.8 and want low RPM power. Think smaller.

Here is a graph of a S363 on an LS1. 500 horsepower, mounds of torque. Even with the smaller S363, this wont be possible on your 4.8. Power will be shifted 1500 RPM higher and torque will suffer.

The S363 is the largest turbo you should be considering.

FWIW, I ran a s366 on the 5.3 in my c10 and it was the funnest turbo setup I've ever had. Very fast spool, made 565hp with it and OMG, it sounds AMAZING!! LOL.

Ok the dyno the graph has me sold . It'll be the billet s363 , thats the kind of rod bending torque I'm looking for .

I've read your thread about it seems like a really fun setup.

Except I didnt post the 363...I posted the more modern 362FMW or SXE.

Which will spool faster and move as much air as the 366.

You must've ignored the part where I said a 4.8 won't make a graph anything like that. You cant run a low compression 4.8 and expect it to spool like an LS1 can, especially when you want a stock 80e converter.

The s362 seems like it'll spool faster than 366 being a lighter wheel. As long as I can see postive manifold pressure around 1800- 2000 rpms say 7-8 psi doesn't have to hit full boost I'll be happy . Usable rpm range would be 1800-4000 rpms . I won't be doing any launches from digs so I don't have to worry about a stall converter or being able to make boost standing still . Its more so cruising around town or when on the highway I want the extra power . When offroading I have plenty of torque multiplication with the 4:1 transfer case so I don't have to worry about that either.
