I set up the clearances and assembled it myself this time around.
Anyway, drove it there and home, about an 80 mile round trip.
I have one speed when it comes to figuring out what to do, it's called analysis paralysis.
I have the same speed when it comes to doing the work!
And that speed is damn slow!
Good thing the car is fast.

I also lost a thrust bearing, kind of blamed it on converter pressure (400) and put a
rest. in the pump. Been lots of diff. discs. about what causes it, some say not enough oil
on the thrust surface, etc. I thought there was a redesigned bearing.
I always liked the methodical approach you take towards it, wish I could, lol.

I did the pump restriction 3 years ago when the bottom end was stock. So really puzzled about the thrust failure. Although the bullet guys say the Clevite is suspect. It has King bearings now and I modified the thrust to pressurize that surface with oil. Time will tell.
I never spun a tire yesterday. I need more boost on the launch, and I have a fix for that. Have to wait until next year. I believe it will go 8.60’s. 😊

I’ve been reviewing my data logs, not liking what I’m seeing.
At 20 psi it went 153. AFR trace was clean.
At 22 psi it went 156. AFR trace showed lean spikes. I assumed it was noise.
At 24 psi no mph change. But a lot more lean spikes.
I’m reasonably sure I’m losing spark. So need to investigate further. Plug gap, coil condition (D585) etc.
Will have to wait till next year though. That was the last race of the year. Unless I throw it on the dyno over the winter.
And Joe, I remember when the old nitrous rat motor felt pretty good going 143. My mph shows 158 just past the stripe and it’s still pulling. Pretty wild. And the old turd drives well at speed.
