I'm in the market for an electronic boost controller. I wanted to get you guys opinions on whats a good choice for my needs and my budget. I'd like to stay under $400-$500 and I want somethings user friendly and Also have a way of running lower boost in first gear and maybe second gear too. What have you run and how do you like it?
so far I'm aware of:
AEM TrueBoost
Eboost
Eboost2 (which does boost by gear but I've read its not that great?)
Innovate Motorsports SCG-1 Which is a boost controller, wideband and shift light all in one. I like that, eliminating one of my gauges
Greddy Profec which looks really neat and possibly easy to adjust.
Then theres an MSD one but that one is high as giraffe booty so i'm not interested.

Anything else? If your using one one these, please, post your thoughts on it. Thanks!

I have had everything but the injectors working at this point and working well. Maybe it seems like overkill but it does everything i want and if i ever decide to just run everything off of it i can. Plus since i had it as a spare for my last car, which i never needed by the way, it cost me nothing on this project.

Ms3 isnt 3000.00. You could get everything i used for less then thousand bucks. Bargain compared to all it can do in my book. But i get that it isnt an entry level system. Like i said i already had it. Its an option if you need more then just basic boost control or if you need more stuff then just boost control. I dont think my nitrous/boost set up would have worked as well without it.

Stumbled across the cortex unit not too long ago and plan to run it. Did you go with the 3 or 4 port jobber Kfxguy?

3 port will do anything you'd ever need.

Good. I'm excited, hopefully have it by the weekend. I'm tired of not being able to use first gear. If I can use only 3 or 4 psi in first I'll do much better. Right now its downright dangerous.

Been watching this thread, and had never heard of the cortex until now. I have a twin setup going together on a 6spd car, so the boost by gear is exciting, if it works well. I would probably buy the cortex if I didn't already have the AEM Tru- boost. Definitely interested in what you think of the cortex in some detail since there isn't much else out there.

Sweet. I figured that was all most would need. I'm curious to see what kinda boost you see with a small spring. I'm starting with a 7psi spring hoping it'll let me see up to 20psi max with this controller.

Got it in today. I’ll install it tomorrow. I’ll start a new thread on my thoughts and how it works once I use it and I’ll link it here.

In the meantime

got it installed. Installation was pretty easy and straightforward. Came with instructions just for my car which is a super nice plus. I havent driven it yet because its been raining. As soon as i get it dialed in and figure out the software, I'll report back. Quality of this kit seems very very nice. Questions I have had to the company have been getting answered, so customer service is very good also.

I have a DIY boost controller with far more boost control strategies than the Cortex and was made to work specifically with the 24x gen 3 PCM.
The problem is a user interface. I made it for me, not anyone else.

There are similar boost controllers out there to what I've made. They suffer the same issues.
You're looking at Cortex capability for half the price, as long as you're willing to go through the hassle of setup without a quality UI.

the whole purpose of this is the simplicity and you just buy it and install it. It has plenty of options for the normal guy like me who's not trying to compete. I'm loving this setup and it does exactly what i need it to......

what boost controller are you referring to that you have?
