Default LT - to LS1 76mm Turbo build

I built the new set up because the LT1 stroker W/NX was getting a bit long in the tooth (owned it since 97) and I had an Opti eater F%#4! I was going to replace the Opti with the 24X system but I got a completed LS1 delivered to my door for the same price of the 24X kit

I'm lucky enough that I have a lot of LT1 buds who were more than willing to take my parts off my hands - I had a lot of money in the bottom end and the sell of it covered most of the Turbo Kit from On3. Still under what I expected to spend due to the parts that came off I decided to up the kit with the 76MM Bearing Journal because I had the extra money.

Before I get into the build the first iteration of the motor was a stock LS1 with upgraded Rod bolts, PAC springs, Used Tick stage 1 turbo cam, Alper motorsports studs for the block and of course the BMR turbo clearance K member for the kit.

Assembled the entire set up on the K member and for the first time pulled the engine up instead of picking it from the top

In parallel I was upgrading the entire suspension to handle the added horsepower and of course to replace the 20+ year old suspension and yes I did paint the underbody of the car - I live in FL rust prevention.

Assembled before install

9in cleaned - already installed

Relocated Torque arm mount and tunnel brace

Installed

After assembling the drive train and suspension the eternal "small" part collection began. I've upgraded almost all of my hoses and lines as safety for the older parts.

- More to come after finish moving my pics of the build to my home PC.

I made the same progression back in 2014. Turbo LT1 to Turbo 5.3. The LT1 was capable, murdered three different Ford GT500's. Two on the street and one at the local 1/4 mile in back to back passes. With a Six speed no less. But the LS has so much knowledge base. It's pretty easy to go 10's and even 9's without even touching the block and crank. Good luck on your new adventure!
