True limits of gen 4 rods hp wise

Yup if you check the plugs and they are good, pistons are good, and only a rod is bent then you were just making more jams then the hard parts could hold. Now that said if the guy didn't want a max effort setup then boost control should be implemented to stay below the hard parts limit.

People don't want to accept it, but I trust SBE more then half the ebay parts people use. And for what people are charging for a basic piston/rod bottom end now you can replace a SBE 5 times.

This is my plan.... Plenty of 4.8’s in my area with 120k or less for $500, New Hampshire winters are great for something besides skiing! I have already committed to smoking my first few engines while I learn to tune.

Yes I agree the stock stuff is close to as good as the Chinese rotators people put in them. They do get expensive to replace when you figure in good valve train parts, gaskets and time.

My SBE LS1 has been alive at almost 700whp for going on three years now so I'd have to strongly agree that its all in the tune, fuel and oiling.
From the research I've done the SBE Gen IV LM7 I'm building outta live a very long time at 800whp which is the current goal.
If I can squeeze 800whp @ 7-7,500 rpm out of the little 7875 I'd be very happy.
