Default Coil Packs

Looking for advice on coil packs. I currently run the stock truck packs on a 408 with a procharger D1sc at 7-8 lbs with a 4 inch pulley. Looking to step it up a bit with a smaller pulley (3.75 maybe). Engine was built for boost with forged internals and rings/gaps etc.

I am pretty sure the stock packs will work, but are there better options that produce longer duration / more spark?

Until you're well beyond 4 figures...stock coils are more than adequate.

The stock coils are fine for you.

Thanks for the information. One more question. Do the coils lose efficiency over time? Mine will soon be 15 years old with 175,000 miles.

There is a higher chance of failure with those miles,but if they're working they're fine.

just check the body for cracks or heat damage. I have had a couple with tiny cracks from when the yard yanked em, and you couldnt see it until the cylinder pressure got high enough that the spark was like "**** that" and it would arc to the head .

I have bought 2 sets of D581 used oem coils off of ebay. One set I put on my buddies 600 hp small black Super Stocker, the other I put on my 800 HP BBC E85 supergas bracket Camaro. Hundreds of passes on both cars and not one failure. Very harsh drag racing environment and these things just keep on trucking. I just ordered another set for $59 from the same Ebay guy that apparently runs a Junk Yard in New York. These old truck coils seem to be built to last.
