Default Oil supply for turbo

Any of you guys know if the oil pressure port at the top of the block behind the intake is an acceptable source for turbo oiling? I think most people are tapping oil above the filter on the oil pan, but I don't have enough clearance because of exhaust. Looking for solution for my first turbo build. Thanks

I mean, it's no different on clearance than it is stock if you get an angled fitting. I ran a 9' line on mine. Hug it in, run it through the frame, etc...You really can't get a 45* or 90* fitting and run it basically touching the block? I cant say on the other spot to take it from, my first guess would be that taking it from anywhere else besides the block off plate might rob the oil from a location that needs it. You could run a small tank and electric pump if its that bad and make and independent system for it...

Yes, you can use that spot for the supply. I've run mine from that spot for years.

I don't have enough room for a block with the port for a fitting. The exhaust is only about 1/8" from touching the one I have (which is 3/4" tall and does not have outlet port) and the blocks I have found with the outlet ports are 1" tall. I am stuck with a very tight fitting header because it is the only one I can find that clears the power steering box on my 1st gen. Camaro.

Here is a pic of my tight clearance. Picture doesn't really show the problem very well. I am still going to try to make a modification to the collector and or pipe, but am looking for an alternative if I can't make it work.

Thanks panda240ss and LS1-IROC, good to know that will work out if I can't get the other spot to work for me.

You ain't lying lol. I f i had known you could use the top port i would not have spent $180 on that oil line.

That is a direct port to the main galleries, so perfectly fine.
