Yea, apparently so. Given your faithfulness to the 60E, I can't help but agree with that statement. .

I thought you'd see it my way lol

btw, love the wheels on your car. what ones are those?

and hey, the 4l60 has been holding up (knock on my wood) since earlier this year. took me two tries to get it because I was being a broke *** cheap ***. its been daily driver status here lately. been driving it to work more than my truck. I have a 26+ mile one way commute. new radiator is keeping the temps on a hot day like this, in the 190's. Its 93f right now. Let me add....my foot is heavy quite often too.

[QUOTE=Game ova;20147582]It absolutely will not rattle your car. As you can see here, mine is literally right under the drivers seat, and the car does not rattle. It goes all the way out the back, through magnaflow muffler, and is whisper quiet. However, when it becomes necessary to gaptize someone....or to just play some, I simply press a button in the console. You're making this much harder/complicated/ more expensive than necessary.

This is what I do almost exactly and it works perfectly.
Stealth mode for creeping and Bald Eagle Screaming mode at the flip of a switch, it also throws the fuzz off when I'm being stupid because they'll be looking for a loud car, saved my bacon more than once.
Plus with the dump being under the driver floor board I get to hear all the awesome turbo noises.

The difference is drastic as far as power is concerned and you only use it when you want to. Otherwise leave it quiet. Going from a 3-3.5" exhaust can increase noise just on the size alone. I ran a 4" exhaust LT headers, dual 3" to 4" merge and 4" all the way out the back with 2 large 4" mufflers and It was too loud to cruise on the highway.( I ran a Aero Chamber and then another dynomax ultra flow and it was still loud.) Going to a 3" cutback with a single dynomax ultra flow and dual 2.5" tailpipes made the car almost silent. That was with a supercharged motor and now I run turbo so its slightly quieter bc of the turbo. But like I said the full exhaust kills power (it will still make boost and go fast) but the cutout turns the car into a whole new animal. But I can run the car on the highway through the exhaust and people think its stock. I can hold conversations and listen to the radio lol... pretty great. Feel like you want to hear the V8 engine and lots of turbo spool? flick the switch and the cutout opens and your grinning ear to ear. Then just flick the switch and your back to dead quiet and enjoying the car.

Just saying... sounds like thats what you want and coming from a person who has done what you want to do... the cutout is the best choice.
When my boy was little he didn't care for having the cutout open because it was too loud, now that he's eight we can't go anywhere without it being open.
I'm happy to oblige him lol.

Yea, we go through stages. Young young, dont like it. Young,(like my 15 year old) we like it. Get older, dont like it anymore. My son tells me all the time I need it louder. I say no, I want it even more quiet.

J pipes. Or helmholtz resonators. I could not stand the 1800-2200 rpm Drone i had. Yes they look stupid, but yes they really do work. its got rid of 90% of the drone. having those ugly things on there was 110% worth it. Btw, they arent actually connected to the muffler. just the pipes.

Ok my dudes. I decided not to spend $400 on a muffler. I ordered a Borla pro xs muffler. I’ve always liked borla and I read good things about it. I went to order a custom pipe that goes from the muffler to the cut out on the bumper. I had talked to the guy last week. I’m gonna refrain from giving the vendor name out but they must be making too much money because the dude was being a **** and acting like I was a bother. So I said **** it and hung up. I’ll build the **** myself.

Anyways. I’m gonna go with a cutout but haven’t decided how I’m doing it. I’ll do the exhaust first then decide. I’ll update this if you guys are interested.

Well I was gonna pull the car apart. I didn’t realize this huge car show (cruising the coast) is coming up in two weeks. So plans changed. I’m gonna just build the exhaust before the show. I don’t have time to do anything else. So this should go quick.

Got the exhaust done. Turned out pretty damn good except the welds. They aren’t bad but they look like three or four different people welded it lol. Why? Well my shop is a wreck and I couldn’t get comfortable while trying to weld. And I hadn’t welded since I built this turbo setup which was shockingly over a year ago. Time flies I tell ya. Damn.

anyways. I’m in the middle of a break, eating lunch. Finished exhaust earlier and now I took it and the downpipe off. I shouldn’t have been looking, but I have an intermittent squeak/rattle and I noticed the downpipe was sitting against frame. So now I’m having to whoop the pipe a little in that area. No biggie.

heres pipes of the exhaust. Btw, old exhaust weighed 46.2lbs and new one weighs 19lbs.

That’s the boat I’m in currently. Lol I hope it works out that way for me. He hates it loud and always says he wants it quiet. We’ll see!

which MAgnaflown are you running? I got one with long tubes no cats and resonator and it’s pretty loud so I’m wondering if there’s a quieter muffle for my car since I want to be able to drive it to work at 5am and not wake up my household lol

I have 3" on my 78/75, all the way to the rear bumper, using a Dynomax baffled large case muffler. Only run 10 #'s so far, car is pretty quite, actually enjoyable on a 170 mile trip. I just ordered the same muffler in their Ultra, which is a straight thru design, want to see how much louder it is. There was a Co. making a muffler with an internal flap that opened with enough pressure, but haven't seen one in a while.

Since somebody decided to "lazarus" up a year old thread, I will put in my 2cents. I like the old Warlock mufflers for a dual tone setup. They are a full muffler with a straight pipe section that is opened with a cutout. Instead of using their bolt on cutout, you replace it with an electric, and if you like, dump it back into your normal exit pipe out the back of the car. The muffled pipe is offset, and the open pipe is straight, so you have room to do a merge after the muffler.
