Default Varex muffler?

Looking to improve my exhaust. I really don’t want a dump under the car. I know I’ll probably get a better gain and spool with it like that, but for now I’m pretty much against that.
So what I want to do is do either a 3” or 3.5” all the way out the back and have variable sound, have it quiet when cruising and loud when I want. Basically a dual mode type exhaust. I have three different ideas.

I have a 7875 vs racing billet wheel unit. 3” outlet. It comes out 3” and then turns to a 3.5” in just a few inches and then transitions to a CX racing oval 3.5”. Then a few feet after it necks back to a 3”, then y’s Into two 2.5” pipes, single muffler dual in and out. It was what I had so I made it work. It’s not loud at all and it don’t sound too bad.

Idea one. Run the whole thing in 3” after the 3.5” necks down. Use a varex electric muffler. Run all the way out the back.

Idea two. Same thing but in 3.5”. More costly but if it’s worth some power then might as well.

Idea three. Run it all the way out the back using a quiet muffler. Before the muffler, Y off of it, put a electric cut out. And instead of letting the cutout dump under my car, route it back into the exhaust bypassing the muffler. Much more work and more complicated.

I dont have experience with varex mufflers. However, the sound clip I heard of a 6th gen camaro, I liked. And it’s what I’m after. What’s your thoughts? Experience with this muffler?

Thanks.

Or I was thinking about the qtp muffler and joining the straight through back into the tailpipe.

Nice. That’s similar to what I want to do. However, weight is a factor so that’s why I considered the varex.

Are you selling them yet? Need a tester? I build all my own exhaust. Pm me details on how to get my hands on one of your mufflers.

Just curious, but why the opposition to an electric cutout under the car?

I concur with the 2 above. Stop dancing around with half measures to max power when you don't care about noise. The full exhaust with a cutout is your best option, cheapest and easiest and lightest weight! Full exhaust when you want it and louder but more power when you want to get rowdy. I did a 3" eBay EC right under the pass seat and its a beautiful noise cruising around on the highway (below 40mph it can be alittle obnoxious) but at idle it sounds beast as well. I picked up 2psi just by opening it and turbo hits harder, spools loud and remember the turbo is already a muffler so its not really like running open headers on a NA car.

Do it... do it... just do it.

The cutout? What size and how much you want for it?

I absolutely care about how loud it is. It needs to be quiet normally. At least as quiet as it is now. I want to be able to crank it under my carport at 10 or 11 at night and not wake up my wife. Right now, that’s how it is.

I want the exhaust exiting out the rear because
1) to me it sounds better
2) I don’t want to rattle the **** out of my car
3) I don’t want to smell fuel

You don't idle in the carport with the cutout open lol. You open it when you want it and use your own discretion. I roll up to my house with it closed and park in the garage which is 10ft away from my 3yr olds room and you can't hear me come in with a full 3" exhaust. Then when I pull out and get like a block away I can open the EC and have some fun, cruising on the highway I will normally leave it 50% open/closed... depends on the situation and it closes quick enough where if I see a cop I can close it before I pass him. The EC shouldn't rattle... me eBay is like 2-3 years old and it works fine, no rattling or leaks. Smelling fuel is a possibility depending on the location of the EC and how you point the cutout dump, Put it behind the seat or under it and you should only have it open while moving so you won't smell a thing. When I come to stop lights with it open sometimes i get a whiff of the exhaust if the wind blows it back into the car but thats rare and I normally don't have it open when I'm not moving.

for some reason I took it as you meant I dont care about noise.

I'm just trying to have the best of both worlds....like a newer car without buying a newer car.

No I totally get it, for my reasons above. I have a 3yr old and prob another on the way shortly. I absolutely care about noise which is why I'm telling you to get the cutout. The difference is drastic as far as power is concerned and you only use it when you want to. Otherwise leave it quiet. Going from a 3-3.5" exhaust can increase noise just on the size alone. I ran a 4" exhaust LT headers, dual 3" to 4" merge and 4" all the way out the back with 2 large 4" mufflers and It was too loud to cruise on the highway.( I ran a Aero Chamber and then another dynomax ultra flow and it was still loud.) Going to a 3" cutback with a single dynomax ultra flow and dual 2.5" tailpipes made the car almost silent. That was with a supercharged motor and now I run turbo so its slightly quieter bc of the turbo. But like I said the full exhaust kills power (it will still make boost and go fast) but the cutout turns the car into a whole new animal. But I can run the car on the highway through the exhaust and people think its stock. I can hold conversations and listen to the radio lol... pretty great. Feel like you want to hear the V8 engine and lots of turbo spool? flick the switch and the cutout opens and your grinning ear to ear. Then just flick the switch and your back to dead quiet and enjoying the car.

Just saying... sounds like thats what you want and coming from a person who has done what you want to do... the cutout is the best choice.

It absolutely will not rattle your car. As you can see here, mine is literally right under the drivers seat, and the car does not rattle. It goes all the way out the back, through magnaflow muffler, and is whisper quiet. However, when it becomes necessary to gaptize someone....or to just play some, I simply press a button in the console. You're making this much harder/complicated/ more expensive than necessary.

I know now I could just slap a cut out on it and call it a day. But that’s not how I roll. I LIKE complicated. Lol. Being for real tho. It exercises my skills and brain.
