Default Oil less turbos

Anyone on here have any reviews with oil less turbos? Read some bad reviews about grease needing replacement often and need to send turbos out for this?

i have a 5.3 with gen3 rods. Twin gt35s (cxracing). I don’t wanna run e85 cause not close by at all. This leaves me to 14-16psi with about 5-600hp.

I always planned to build a block and just turn the boost up to make 800ish with meth and convert to AUTO, get Holley or some sort of ECU. Doing that would most likely be another $6000. So this leads me to thinking of selling this car at end of 2020, the way it sits on pump gas and just build another setup. I won’t get money back for the custom stuff that went into current setup. Easier to sell whole thing. Also I really enjoy designing and putting together setup without cutting shell.

this time I want the turbos to sit where my SMICs sits now. This is low obviously and debating if I could just run oil less turbos. not a fan of running pumps for turbo drains due to room. New setup would be 6.0, auto, bigger turbos to make 800ish on pump if possible. open downpipe right off turbos.

I had investigated and read such mixed reviews, plus the buy in cost and the cost of the maintenance grease that's required turned me off to them.

Local guy has a pair of Gen3 oil-less Comp 6262's on a low hung twin setup on a 2005 Mustang, Several guys in the Mustang world run them,, Since Comp redid the CHRA the only issue I know those have is they tend to lose the zerk fitting. As far as greasing, pump a couple shots in every 3000miles. The grease is kinda pricey though.

Don't think he's ever dyno'd that car but it has ran high 4's.

Maybe for a racecar it makes sense but not for a real street car that will be driven often. The grease is like 150 75 a tube.

I can kind of see self contained like Prochargers, but for a turbo sitting on hot exhausts I would think
the oil running thru could maybe cool it some-maybe not a lot, but some.

I think it's more like $150 a tube for the stuff they recommend but I'm sure you can find something that works for cheaper and you still have to run coolant to them (unless they have a newer version). Then factor in a 78mm was over $2100 and no thanks.

They have a newer air cooled version, but would probably go coolant if it were me. The big selling point to me is off level mounting (tilted in my case) not causing such a oil drain issue. Getting rid of all my scavenge crap would be ok also

I did China turbos cause the entire build was new. Manifolds motor etc. swap was assembled by someone else so had no idea if anything would hold up. Why spend so much money on turbos if motor, clutch etc is junk? I wasn’t really into putting Ls engine into the Nissan but it was cheap and had a lot of expensive swap parts so why not.

im asking about the oil less because this is limited to power. When I did the turbo kit, I wasn’t aware of the gen3 rod being weaker. Usually you just read the world making 10000hp off junk yard motors lol. So after I drive this car awhile and get used to it, I want to build another one myself.

it’s worth it to put money into expensive turbos when I know the motor, trans etc can handle them. However, I’m not 100% going this route. I do plan on building a 6.0 and getting bigger turbos to fit that motor, which requires new turbo kit. Just was weighing options on where to fit bigger turbos. I wasn’t fully aware of costs to grease and still needing coolant lines. This post did help.

I have twin Comp 6065 oil less on my car. They have been on the car for 10k miles. I grease them every 3k with oil change. I have had zero issues. I am a big fan of them
