Oil Cooler Plumbing Help needed.
The car is a street car and will see occasional drag strip use. I may run this on a road course at sometime too.
So I'm running a remote Moroso oil filter housing. It has 2 -12 inlets and 3 outlets one of which is a -12 outlet and the other 2 outlets are 1/4 npt. One of the -12 inlets is obviously going to be the feed from the oil pump. Whiich leaves me with one -12 inlet. I was going to use one of the 1/4 inch outlets to feed both turbos with a Y in the lines like i did with the old setup. the -12 outlet obviously has to go to the oil feed on the rear of the block for the motor. So i do not want to touch that or T or Y into that to feed with the oil cooler.
The oil cooler is a griffin setup with about a 1 quart capacity and an auxillary fan. the inlet and the outlet of the oil cooler are 1/2 inch npt with no thermostat currently. (the oil got plenty warm with the twins i had before and 6 quarts of oil on the stock block)
So I have a few questions.
First being Do you think i even need the oil cooler? I already have it and its in the car.
Second. If i were to plumb the cooler the only feed i have off of the oil filter housing is a 1/4 inch npt, Since its only a 1/4 inch npt do i shrink all the fittings and hose off of the cooler down to that size?
Third: this one illudes me a little or maybe im way overthinking it. Since the oil cooler is mounted much higher than the oil filter and pan should it be filled with oil separately like the oil filter?
I appreciate the help.
