It doesn稚 work that way. AFR and timing would be way off to make any power NA.

Holdener does a lot of that kind of thing with unlimited engine dyno time if you want to check him out on YouTube.

Started breaking it in and street tuning. Made this little idle clip this morning. It was cold out and still starts pretty good considering E85. I had the idle set a little high in this video. I think it was about 950 rpm, but now I've got it slowed down to 850 rpm. A noticeable improvement in response over the 347 which I enjoy in a street car.

Now that I've had the chance to put some miles on the new motor I want to share some thoughts on this... Tune is very close now and idle drive ability is great. Cold starts are a little sketchy, but considering no check valve in the fuel line, e85, aggressive cam, and cold weather here in Iowa currently it's actually not bad at all. Idling in park I'm seeing a steady 14 on the vacuum/boost gauge and oil pressure cold is about 60 at idle. Fully warmed up idle oil pressure is mid 40's. Below is a snap shot from my first wide open pull over 6000 rpm. Everything below 6000 rpm fueling is about dead on in all conditions. Over 6000 rpm was pig rich as I was playing it safe. AFR hit 10.5 on the gas scale over 6000 rpm and duty cycle got to 105%. It's under 100% now and still slightly rich, but I will be needing bigger injectors if I want to add more boost(hitting a peak of 15 psi now). Only running a 3.9 blower pulley now and zero signs of belt slip. The extra cubic inches and half a point of static compression is definitely noticed with this setup and the custom cam is ridiculous up top. My only concern with the ls1 top end on this 377 was that maybe my power would fall off earlier, but seat of the pants that isn't the case at all it pulls so much harder up top than my old cam did. When things get back to normal I may head to a dyno just to see what she does. Still only 15 degrees peak timing and plugs are clean so with e85 I'm sure I can put a minimum of 2 more degrees in it, but waiting for warmer weather and better traction.

Sounds like you've got plenty of room on timing if youre running on E85, but may as well just pulley down. What's the timing mark on the plugs say?

On the flat edge of the strap just at the edge of the bend. I'd guess a couple of degrees would move it to the middle of the bend where I usually would run them. Br7ef plugs gapped at 0.024. At current temps even on drag radials traction is limited so no reason to push it on timing yet. If the tracks ever open up then I'd definitely put more in it for race day.

Sounds good. Glad you're running a 7 plug too.

I'm sure I based plug choice on what people here were using at these power levels. So you may not have recommended them to me, but you are a contributor here.

Cool, I appreciate that. Glad you're setup is up and running well. Be nice when you can get back to the track and make some passes and compare.

I'm not going to get very many chances at it with no roll bar. Local track is lenient on street car nights, but if I hit low 6's like I should (1/8th mile) I'm going to get the boot. I've done a little improvement suspension wise as well with double adjustables out back and cradle bushings which seem to make a big difference on these GTO's. My current ET street SS tires will be getting replaced with the street R tires soon as well. If it feels good in the 60' I'll stay in it, but if it doesn't then I'll get out of it so I can get another chance.

Have you tried M&H? I'm on my first set and prefer these over the M/T's I had previously.

Cool project, I kind of miss my Procharged cars, love the whine from them.
I dont know much about newer cars, mostly LS older stuff. What size engine came in a GTO,
6.0? I thought they had square port heads factory. Wanted to get one down the road, Procharge it.

I haven't tried them. I heard they don't last as long as the Mickey Thompsons what is your opinion on that?

The camera makes it seem louder. The exhaust seems louder in comparison standing next to it especially with the hood down, but when I make a video the blower seems louder. If you heard it next to an F1a it seems quiet. It's snowing here now, but I'll try to get it out and do an idle video outside the garage with the hood down. The tune is really dialed now and it's idling at 850 rpm instead of 950 like it was in the previous video. That previous video was the first day I drove it so I had the idle a little higher because I didn't want to risk it dying on me in traffic the first time out.

The '04 like mine came with a 5.7 LS1 and all GTO's had cathedral port heads. The '05-06 had the 6.0 and also upgraded from the 241 heads to the 243's. The '04 GTO I believe is the last drive by cable LS.

im on my first set now. Driving around on the street so don't have a feel for mileage yet in comparison but they still look brand new. They feel softer than the M/Ts I had but it is a taller/skinnier tire and feels lighter too.

Same size tire is taller/skinnier in comparison to the MT or you used a different size? Dry burnouts on some surfaces will really peel the MT's.

295/50/16 M/T's previously. This time its M&H 275/55/16's. So like a 27.7 vs. a true 28. Granted I can't make full boost in 1st, but I can literally start the car and drive around normally and then make a 1-2-3 pull and it dead hooks, no burnout.
