Iron 5.3 with Summit Pro LS bottom end & Stage 4 Cam
Hi guys...
I'm working on a build specifically for Hot Rod Drag Week. I'm starting this thread just so I don't have to repeat what I have each time. As this build progresses I'll post additional parts questions & choices on this thread. Hopefully I'll get to share the results with you in the end. This will be my third race car. I already have a 1993 Mustang Notch with a 587 big block Ford as well as a 2015 Mustang Ecoboost pumping out 700 HP with aftermarket long block & turbo so this LS will get done!! The Mustang Ecoboost has been on Drag Week in 2017 & 2018 already. I'm looking for some crazier street power from this LS build.
Car/Motor Purpose -- Hot Rod Drag Week 202? with ability to drive on pump gas to the track.
1967 Kaiser Jeepster Commando Now a tubbed 2 wheel drive with ladder bar 9" rear end. It weighed right at 3200 pounds with a Pontiac 455 & TH350 in it.
Motor - Iron 5.3 out of a 2004 Silverado bored out to 3.903. Block was decked, Mains were line honed with ARP studs installed. New cam bearings.
Summit Racing Pro LS 3.622 stroke crank.
Summit Racing Pro LS 7cc dish pistons
Summit Racing Pro LS H-beam rods
Summit Racing Stage 4 Turbo cam
Texas Speed 220 As Cast Cylinder Heads with PAC .660 springs & titanium retainers
Comp Cams Ultra Pro Magnum Rocker Arms
Cometic MLS head gaskets with a .092 compressed thickness. This will give me a 9.05:1 static compression ratio
Cloyes Race True Billet Timing Set
Melling Oil Pump
Chevy Performance Hydraulic Roller Lifters
Precision LS 7675 Turbo
If it's not listed I don't have it yet. I'll post other parts in the future back to this thread to get advice/feedback on. If you have any advice for me PLEASE let me know. I don't want to do this twice and I'm trying to do it right the first time.
Other parts I think I will use:
TH350 with a 3800 RPM stall converter
Holley TerminatorX FI system
That's all I know for now. Let me know yours thoughts on what you see listed. If you see a blatant error please speak up.
Here is my parts list. Do you see snything you hate or would do different? Input with experience will be greatly valued.

This leads to another question. I got the .660 PAC springs on the Texas Speed PRC heads. Will those valve springs be more pressure than I need for the Stage 1 cam? I don't know what the pressure are for those springs on the heads but I can look all that up if nobody knows off the top of their head. I just figured I'd give it a shot.
@Mavn I think I read in a thread that you were running 9.0's with your combo. At least I'm pretty sure it was you. If so what kind of car & what is the weight?

How much power are you trying to make ? As stated the stage 4 cam is over kill for that turbo also do yourself a favor and get rid of those magnum rockers too a set of stock rockers with a trunnion upgrade is the way too go

Thanks.. Exactly the experience I'm looking for. I have no point of reference for spec'ing a turbo cam. I guess my N/A roots of bigger is better doesn't apply here. ...makes sense. I'll send it back & get the Stage 1.
