Bought a new Dorman LS6 intake to replace my busted LS1 intake.
And it just arrived. Nice to see it came with pre-installed gaskets and replacement "button head" valley cover screws. Also, while I was prepared to grind off all the ribbing on the bottom exterior, the dorman is already smoothed. Came with fastener torque specs as well. Front/top Side and bottom. Rear Bag of fasteners.
The fuel rail hold downs on the LS1 intake have threaded brass inserts. This dorman provides 4 'self taping' screws, which isn't too bad by itself, but I have the FAST Fuel rails that have big aluminum blocks under the rail flanges. The provided screws are only applicable to the stock fuel rails and their thin flanges, I went the hardware store and bought a box of 1/4 x 2" self tapping cap screws and they worked.
The stock truck 'steam pipe' is snaked to where it goes under the LS6 intake at the front and back and won't let it seat. "No worries" thought I, "I'll just use my Fbody steam pipe". Not so fast buddy, …. It *also* hits two spots on the LS6 intake and won't let it seat. So I bought an "LS6" style steam pipe setup and went to install it today... Well phock me, the collar on the braided steel line hits the manifold too and it won't let the manifold seat. Looked online and saw that TFS has one that reviewers said worked with their LS6 intakes. Got to wait till Monday to get it though.
