An idler may help with belt routing but not needed since you have sufficient belt wrap on alt. Ideally, you need a spring loaded tensioner on the slack side to handle belt stretch under heavy acceleration. Belt stretch is your primary issue. Without a tensioner, the belt should be tensioned so no more than 1/4" deflection at 20lb force.

Belt stretch would not be an issue with so little drive load.
And often with the OEM setup...the solution to throwing belts is getting rid of the OEM spring tensioner and fitting a fixed tensioner.
It may simply need more tension here...the sidewall idler would most definitely help as the belt is walking all over that smooth one. But I do not believe a spring tensioner will fix his problem.
Interesting mentioning spring loaded tensions since many people who rev high and threw belts with the stock tension switched to a manual tensioner like the Katech and their belt throwing issues went away.
