Fan wiring
2001 firebird lq9 single turbo build in progress.
Can I connect a single fan to the pre-existing fan wires?
There are 4 wires that will need to connect to 2 wires. The threads I read are just over complex conversions and the original diagrams.
Could someone please explain to me how to connect the 4 original wires that went to the stock puller fans to connect to the 2 wire single pusher fan. I'm struggling with this one.
Thanks
It claims 17.7. If I cut out the other set of wires it will only run in constant low mode though, right?
I am considering grounding the black, blue, and gray, then just connect power and ground the fan. I'm not sure if that is gonna work right or if I will lose the hogh speed.

I only use ONE of the factory wires, the "Fan 1" ecm ground trigger wire, to turn on a 40 amp relay, have both 12v power input leads connected at the stud on the fuse box at driver side front corner, the power out is hooked to fan, and fan negative is grounded to core support.
I didn't run any new wires from the ECM. I got the factory fan ground trigger off of the stock fan relay, right there in driver front corner, at the fuse box. I'd have to look to verify wire color...
Using a separate add-on relay, ensured that when fan is triggered ON, it gets full voltage and works at its maximum speed. I also run it for 120 seconds at shutdown. Car stays decently cool, even hotlapping at the dragstrip. On the street, works great.
I plan to eventually use the ecm ground trigger for " Fan 2", as relay ground for an external trans and/or oil cooler fan.
If I remember, I'll grab a pic or two tomorrow
Hope this helps.

You should be able to just use the low speed circuit's power wire, and a separate ground to trigger another relay. There are wiring diagrams for converting the Fbody fans to a single unit from Procharger.
