Question super MILD boost build advice needed

so i've relatively recently started my foray into wrenching, and im planning a single turbo build on a bone stock ls6, and instead of making gobs of power, i wanna cruis around at low RPM and get the best mileage i can out of it. i know it sounds silly to some, but i love the simplicity/availability of american pushrod motors/parts, and i like knowing that ive got a good amount of torque if i need to put my foot in it.

all of that said, any ideas what size turbo i should go for to get good efficieny around about 2-3000 rpm? with minimal engine mods? (i know i'll need piston rings and whatnot) sorry if this info is already available but i attempted a quick search to no avail.
im also open to superchargers if anyone knows a of a good fit for this

thanks!!!

a 7675 or 7875 would be perfect.

agree 100% with this or an s369 or s372 borg warner if you want even faster response but still have the ability to make good power.

I would go smaller. It sounds like you're looking for an OEM style turbo setup where the turbo is already in boost at a very low rpm. If you're good with limiting power to 500whp or so, go for something in the T67-T70 range. Keep the AR .81 or .7. With a good tune you'll see boost at less than 2000rpms and have power down load at the expense of running out of breath up top. No need to change piston rings or anything in the bottom end.

you dont think building a bunch of torque at or below 2000 rpm would be hard on the stock rods? I think thats why back in the day there were so many “failures” from using a small single i.e 70/65s or similar.

Tuning is wayy different now. And boost at 2k rpm from a small turbo like that should be fine

I would say big turbine , small compressor wheel ? Something like the S362 with 73mm exducer turbine . Will keep pumping losses to a minimum when out of boost and the small compressor wheel should help with spool up . I have seen a lot of big industrial diesel's run setups like that.

Many of the small single failures in the past on this platform were from back pressure and too much timing and the thing would pop a ring land or detonate itself to death.

Define "super mild" ? IMO super mild would be 5-6lbs and leave everything bone stock. you wouldn't need to do anything to the motor and mileage wouldn't change. I wouldn't even run an intercooler. maybe a cheap meth inj kit with washer fluid. be great for towing.
