Default Updated EBC Options

Hey guys, I’m in the market for an EBC and AFR gauge. I would like to stay under $500 for both but I don’t see any threads newer than 2018 for boost controllers.

innovate scg-1 has both in one unit but I haven’t had good luck with innovate in the past and don’t care for them. If someone could convince me otherwise, I’m open.

also ran across the Sirhc labs cortex ebc which sounds pretty legit with its different features like boost by wheel speed

am I missing any other new options on the market today?

I have a cortex, it works pretty well. Has tamed my car down like I wanted on lower settings. With a 3 port solenoid I can vary boost in 1st gear from 5.8psi to 12psi and 10psi to 20psi in third gear. The boost by gear works really well. The software is easy to work, some option wording is kinda confusing if you dont read the whole manual. You need a laptop to set it, you get 6 different boost maps. I got a round gauge with mine.

I have an innovate lc2. The first one I owned was flawless and lasted for years. It went out because I plugged something that was an output into the output. My fault. I just bought a new one, o2 probably needed replacing anyways. So far its been working. My buddy has an aem, and I dont like it, the range it reads is not NEAR as wide. The innovate is cheap enough to give it a shot I think. I'd buy another. It syncs with hp tuners flawlessly, you plug the output cable (with a usb to serial adapter $11) into another usb port on the computer. Add it in your scanner, there's and option for innovate. I'm referring to the base hp tuners cable without the extra input too.

I ran the Cortex for a little while. Its a great setup for the price. That with an AEM wideband will put you slightly over your $500 budget, but it'll have all the features you'd need.

I have had the SCG-1 for a couple years now and I like it. I was in the same position. I'm glad I have the added safety feature for boost cut when AFR goes lean because I'm running on the stock ECU as well.

Use the built-in one. Not sure why you'd want to use another one

Get a $25 3 port mac solenoid, configure a pwm output and your done. By default it wants you to run a dome sensor but you dont have to.

Same with 100psi pressure sensors the $30 ones on amazon work fine for fuel, oil or whatever else you need without having to get the $100 holley version.

For the money, the Cortex probably has the most to offer.

Most other controllers are massively overpriced.

Well you said simplest earlier, that certainly complicates things a bit and eats two outputs.

a 3 port (if setup correctly) with manifold pressure will give you all the resolution most setups need. I can run 8-20+ easily. I don't know that software well enough to recommend a strategy. But I don't understand why you'd need a separate pressure sensor fore the WG unless you were using C02 or something to control boost? Should be able to program WG DC VS manifold press. OR WG duty VS wheel speed would be my preference.
