Yep you’ll know more when you get the heads off. I’d check your timing chain like mentioned above as well just to make sure nothing weird happened there. Hopefully a valve didn’t stretch enough to make contact and new valves are all you need.

BCN- I live in the south and it’s a PickNPull place and it’s busy 6 days a week nonstop and they have been there since early 90’s and have a awesome rep and give you 30day free returns even on engines. I’m still working on it.

Ok who guessed tuliped valves? But get this, the intake side tuliped. I think I know why tho. I’d rather not say why, to be honest.

I bought some $58 “stainless” valves off eBay because I couldn’t find ferrea at the time, or maybe I was being cheap. I guess I should have at least bought a name brand. I did it to myself. AGAIN.

I hope you guys don’t mind. I’m going to create another thread about these cheap chinesium valves, warning people do not use them with boost. They would have been ok for a while I guess in a na application, but the face that contacts the seat was showing wear already. So I’d say the metal was way too soft.

Ferrea, REV, Manley, stock.....as long as it's some decent brand.

Although I'd say the tuliping could also be lean, heat, extended hard use etc..

but would you say the failure was more a result of being a cheap valve, because the intake side did it and the exhaust valves are ferrea. I would think the exhaust would definitely be hotter....

The exhaust will be hotter...but it's also a lot smaller, and a damn sight stronger.

I've tuliped intakes myself, but that may be one of the risks in pushing too hard on pump fuel and sustained hard use...ie mile sorta thing.
On pump keep it on the richer side, keep timing sensible etc etc. There are just no benefits from trying too lean, or too much timing. And by too lean I mean even mid 11's, unless it's very low boost

As to whether there are potential valvetrain causes or not....maybe there are some factors there too, but not that I can think of.
