Yeah, not much cooling going on without air and fluid flow. I've used the Ford diesel trans coolers (2004 is radiator size) or F150 HD 2004 - 08 (5.25" x 21.4"x1.25").

Man.. decide to not run an IC due to lack of space and to simplify things... also to not cover the grill and radiator area. Now I gotta run an transmission cooler as big as a radiator! Working with a pretty small area/grill to boot. The baby trans cooler was on the roller. It will be removed.

I run the largest b@m with the fan and thermoswitch remotely

It sounds like you have poor cooler circuit function from what you describe. Not cooling at idle in neutral ect
The glide pump and shaft combo is sensitive to this, what is your combo of pump/shaft/stator tube?

that thermoswitch on mine is 180* I beleive, on the inlet of the cooler

It is on the instant I stall the converter under power. I can make a full hit over 1200hp and in 2-5 minutes after cruising the fan has shut back off
I am lucky to ever see over 160 sump temp no matter how hard I .on it or how far I drive

This is with locked stator even in the converter

i run a full ring shaft and have excellent function

Has one of the BTE 7 bolt pumps.. TH style shaft Dont recall the brand of the shaft or tube. I don't run the bushing on it, which PTC said was fine. I had my sensor on the cooler return line as well, not the pan. I ordered a 30 row BAR and Plate with a pretty high flow rate OEM motorcycle E-fan. Hope that does it...

-thanks!

I am curious did you have that Derale in the front of the car? I think I have almost the exact same one. It's under the bed of my truck. I have a small Spal fan on it. From my HP Tuners reading, my 80 never gets over 200. I have a 180* fan switch setup on it. I was just wondering if maybe it wasn't getting enough airflow?

No, it was mounted in the back. cruise temps were fine, was just at the track between passes at idle that it wouldn't really cool down. I mean it idn't stay at 210... but it didn't cool as quickly as I'd of liked it to. We'll see what this setup does. Hopefully its better. I'd like to keep as much weigh ton the nose as possible so I'm debating on just mounting this one up front or if I should remote mount it with it's own fan. Not sure which would be more efficient at the track between rounds. I could care less about cruise temps. Never had an issue with those.

Remote with fan will give you better between rounds cooling while just idling the car to circulate fluid with fan flowing some good ambient air.
