I'm going to be changing my spark plugs to the colder ngk's for my procharger install. While changing them, should I change the spark plug wires too? I'm planning on keeping the stock ls1 coils as there is way too much conflicting advice on the forums as to what's better, what fits.....Plus I don't want to spend the money.
I don't think you can really go wrong with any good aftermarket set of wires. Personally I went with the Taylor thundervolt 50 wires and fire boots, br7ef gapped at .028 and have had 0 problems with my procharger Silverado.
Depending on your setup. Ive had great experience with Accel ceramic plugs. Low resistance, damn near impossible to burn through. Lasted 2 years of plug changes.
I had Taylor Thunderbolts and I think 5 or 6 of them broke while tsking them off the very first time after being on maybe 6 months. Yup, I chang my plugs frequently. Anyway, it wasn;t that I pulled them at the wire, I used a boot puller and the electrode clip ends that snap onto the spark plug tips refused to come off and the wires unraveled out f the boot.....totally destoyed. JUNK. Maybe a bad set.....who knows. Luckily I kept my factory original 1998 plug wires and metel heat shields....put them back on and they lasted about another 8 years. I still kept and use the heat shields but all new Advance Auto replacments.

Strange, I've used the cheap taylor wires from summit (like $50ish), on my 2003 ls6 swapped silverado and now on my 5th gen camaro and had no problems. Going on 4 years with this set of wires. Taken on/off more times then I care to count. Depending on your climate, you should put a dab of dielectric grease on the tip of the spark plug then snap on the boot. Your connection must have rusted/frozen together.

Definitely, always put a glod of dielectric grease on every electrode and some in the boot on the snap end. Like I mentioned, I changed plugs every 6 months regardless of mileage just bcuae its so cheap and easy, so the plugs were like new as far as corrossion or rust.
I think I got a bad batch that wasn't bonded properly inside the boot. First time I ever saw the actual wires unravel, they were tiny tiny, thin wires.....
I think its Granitelli that makes wires that are warrantied for life for breakage and I think he also says you can pull them from the wire......I think I'll get those for my upcoming project.

Taylor used to have EXCELLENT customer service. If you had contacted them, I'd bet they would have replaced them free.
