I built myself a turbocharged junkyard lq4 miata :] Its an absolute blast to drive.

Anywho, i want to throw some more at it and see what it can do at the drag strip

Specs:
Stock bottom end junkyard LQ4
Stock 317 heads
LS6 intake
colder plugs
hphv melling pump
comp 54-454-11 cam
btr hardened pushrods [oem length]
comp 26918-16 springs
78/75 vs racing turbo
no BOV
44mm vs racing wastegate
ebay charge pipe
ebay intercooler
truck manifolds flipped forward
single walbro 450 feeding a surge tank, twin 044's feeding the rails
ebay rails
ebay regulator
ebay surge tank
ebay lines
ebay fittings

car made 500whp/500rwtq on 11psi
13* of timing with and 42%idc. So, PLENTY of fuel left

SO, metallic miraculously got in the oil and now swapping to an '04.5 5.3 [with the better rods] before i grenade the lq4 [still runs great and doesn't knock].

I am purchasing headstuds and ls9 gaskets tonight...... how much more stress can i truly throw at this junkyard engine? I wanna shoot for 750-800..... if a rod goes then it goes.... its a $300 5.3 junkyard bomber with 200,000 miles.
but what is the "safe" range vs the "kaboom" range?

I was thinking about ~17psi and seeing what it makes?

My vsr 78 on gen 4 SBE didnt want to do much over 29lbs and seemed tapped on power at 24-25. Anything over 800hp is good for that little guy, some get near 900 with the next gen version.

cool build btw

That was on e85, they generally have a pretty good life if you fuel them properly and don't get greedy with timing. Ive run more on sbe with larger turbos but of course the lifespan is shortened.

I run mine up to 17psi @ 10* all day long on a bigger turbo. You're no where near its worry point at 800 hp unless you have a bad tune.

Yeah just make sure you have the right plugs in there and enough fuel/injector for the boost.

Traction setup is probably your biggest limitation to getting your fasted ET right now.
