Default Trick Flow 220s: No valve seals?

Started swapping my BTR.660 springs onto my new Trick flow Gen X 220 heads with bronze guides. Looks like there are no valve seals at all? Is this normal? (the valve seal shown is from my BTR spring kit). Should I install the valve seals or leave them off? I am going to try to reach trick flow to confirm today.

yes there's no seal installed on that new head, but you still need valve seals, they just left it up to the user

some valve springs will have particular seat heights, and may require shimming etc. some spring seats even have valve seals already installed.
this way it's just more universal, seals is just part of the process, as it didn't comes with springs either.

I dont think you understand. This was a fully assembled head, ready to bolt on, that i removed the valve springs from to replace with different springs, and noticed there was no seals.

I just got off the phone trick flow and they assured me that there should have been seals on there. Now I am curious to go home and see if the other head has seals on it. Quite the error in production if you ask me. Friday heads maybe.

I’d say that was a goof!
You would have been disappointed if you would have installed them as delivered!

you should really have them gone over by a machinist. I've never seen a set of trickflows that didnt need work out of the box.

Hey Doug, would you expand on "need work"? Does that mean bad valve job, incorrectly installed spring height, port work, surface? I know it could mean more than one, just on your experience, what you have seen.

guides not fitted right, loose seats, missing hardware, garbage springs

AFR makes a better product quality wise.

I use TFS 220, 235, and 245 on almost every motor I build. I have never seen these issues with any of them and that's with about 3-4 sets a month for the past 7-8yrs. How ever all my TFS heads come bare with valves and PM guides from BTR that are done at TEA.
