Now that the weather is finally getting warm and my daughter can entertain herself for more than 5 minutes it's time to work on the project. My initial thoughts/Hope's were to use flipped truck manifolds and use the provisions in the holley 302-3 pan for a drain. The drain doesnt appear to be I. A very good spot and I couldn't find anyone who has tried it. Thoughts? ( I'll snap a photo of it when I get home) Now onto the manifolds. Passenger side is pretty good but the driver side hits my steering shaft at the pot? Joint. I'm assuming it's because I'm using the holley forward position mounts which is why its hitting right on the last primary. Once again plenty of turbo abody cars but didnt see any mention of people using the forward mounts.
This leads me to think that I will have to use the holley turbo manifolds? Not a ton of people running it by the looks of things. I did see a 67 had them and seemed happy. My 68 should be pretty close to the same fitment.
Anyways sorry for rambling on. Just wanted to see what everyone's thoughts were on this. Maybe just a sanity check. Haha.
As a side note has anyone tried the speed engineering short headers with the forward holley mounts? I was going to run na for a little bit since theres alot of unknowns on this car.
Doing a 72 monte carlo now , stock rear facing drivers side manifold on drivers side ( giant flange removed and a couple inches of 2 1/2 " pipe bend welded to manifold with v band on that - clears everything easily) the mounts are set up a good bit forward- mostly to allow the 4l80e to fit. Not sure on the details of the mounts , can probably get pictures in a couple days . Car isn't here. For the pass side we're running a home made log style manifold , made by hacking up a stock drivers side manifold - almost free !! You could use the holley manifold on that side or one from fahler speed , probably others available also
Not sure if they fit the A-body, but I had the same problem on my C-body. Swapped out the steering intermediate shaft for a Jeep Cherokee unit. Gave me the roughly 1/4" I needed, improved the handling and cheaper than manifolds. Triple win!

I originally tried the driver side as a rear facing manifold but it dumps right into the a arm mount. Im thinking it's just the fact I'm using the mounts that push it all forward. The more I read the more I see that basically nobody is using these mounts and is going turbo. No big just will have to find what works I suppose.

I did the steering box upgrade from the Cherokee but couldn't find alot of info on the steering shaft. There was some guy nodding it and making the ready to go but he is no longer selling them. Maybe I'll have to look more into this.
