Hey fair enough, throw a turbo on it!

I just did stainless forward manifolds, vibrant piping and bellows, air water intercooler, 2 50mm gates, 91mm gt55, etc for $2000 in the last week. Setup is probably good for an honest 1300whp and costs less than some brocharger blower brackets. So there's a decent idea on cost if you can do things yourself.

that's out of my general list if someone asks me what it cost to turbo their LS vehicle, plus another $1000 for fuel stuff, wideband, tuning costs, misc. sensors, etc...$2500 in parts. w.
To modify that list a bit, the $50-60 50mm wastegates work great, you really only need one but I often run two. Same company makes a BOV for $35.

You can run Holley Terminator for about $850 comes with a wideband and setup for boost control with a $30 MAC solenoid, run some Bosch 210 injectors and your off and running in a weekend.

Just for reference, I installed an old cast wheel Turbonetics T7875 on my SBE LS1 with CNC ported 317's and mystery turbo cam looking to make 550-600whp at 10ish lbs. on pump gas and ended up making 689whp/674wtq at 12-13 lbs. instead...oops.
I think you're gonna have to try pretty hard to only make 550whp.
I'd use a VS 7875 and enjoy the ridiculous amount of torque that combo will make.

That's awesome, I'm sure I will get the same results. I guess this is just my pre power adding thought where 550 used to be a conservative number. I guess I'm just trying to say that I'm not looking to milk every ounce of power out of it. I will not be upset when it makes more.

That wasn't even me squeezing all the power out of it.
Told my tuner I wanted it to live, didn't care if someone with the exact same combo got on the dyno and made 50whp more, just wanted as much longevity as I could get.
Ran the car at that level for four years until I sold it, drove it like I stole it most of the time lol.
New owner also drove it like he stole it and then promptly crashed it like he stole it lmfao.
