Default LS Rocker Arms

What's everybodys opinion on the rocker arms, trunnion kit, bearings or run them as they are? 600 lift cam with a turbo so I done a little research and got a bunch of opinions. The guy that does a lot of LS engines over here next to me says to run them stock, I've heard of big problems with the bearings coming out so I thought I'd ask on here.

Most people just run stock rockers with a trunnion kit. Many opinions on the various brands. I use ws6store "max effort" rockers. They are a little more than a trunnion kit, but I like them.

Strictly FWIW , stock rockers and pushrods from 180,000 mile engine here. PAC 1218s 570/550 cam 14000 miles - no issues

GMCGreg that is what the guy next to me who builds and tunes a lot of boosted LS engines said, run them stock. If I done anything, I would go with the brass bushing trunnion kit. Bearings are cheaper but I don't trust them. Think I will go stock and keep an eye on them.

2 sets of comp 1.82 rockers. Locking up and sticking. Bearing failure of both sets.

Ouch !!! That makes the stockers look like a deal . Definitely not worth the money to gain ~ .040 valve lift unless it's a max effort race set up

On my car...Been running them for almost 2 years now. 7200 rpm shift point with .621 valve lift.

Stock rockers with C.H.E. trunion kit and hardened pushrods (take your pick on the pushrods). My build is still in progress though but the quality, craftsmanship and customer service on the CHE kit is amazing.

Has anyone tried one of the shaft mount kits? Looks like BTR sells one for not a bad price. Stock arms on a shaft setup.

Yes, several cars that I race with use them over 8,000 rpm with zero issues. I have a set for sale.

RPM dictates the need for bushings IMO. With a 7k plus build, ideally I'd ruin a bushed set. Its cheaper to run a bushing set than to buy new OEM rockers. I've run nothing but stock on all my stuff and have yet to see one come apart. But I have seen it on a friends car and it really makes a mess when you shoot a ton of needle bearings all over the valvetrain at RPM. I believe BTR has factory sets already bushed these days ready to drop in that aren't too bad price wise.

I ran stock ones in my 700whp turbo LS for several years, .630/.630 lift cam shifting at 6,700-6,800 rpm, not a ton of miles but when I did drive it it saw redline almost every time lol.
I like the bushing kits but I've seen several guys have issues with them wearing funny and sending gold dust into the engine??

This could be similar to LS7 lifters. Sure there are some failures, but how many of them are out there compared to other products. Some times we just have to do what helps us feel more confident even if it isn't really better or needed.

Totally agree, I was looking real seriously at the bushing kits but kept running into instances where the bushing wore out fast or incorrectly causing an issue and it killed my confidence in finding a kit I felt good with.
Perhaps that is changed, I wouldn't mind knowing what the consensus is on that since it was a while ago I looked into it.

That's why I went with the ws6store rockers. They are a stock body, but have sealed bearings. I don't think there are enough out in the world to make too much of it, but the fact remains I've had no issues with them and I've heard of no issues with them from anyone else. Stock rockers and bushing kits both have had issues reported. Again volume of them being used is a legit argument as to why that may be the case.

Im amazed how quiet the valve train is. Ls7 lifters with 0.085 preload, 11/32 0.120 wall
summit pushrods, cam motion cam, and these rockers. I recently ran the motor with the blower off the car and that is when I realized how quiet it actually is.
