Default Sbe oil pans

I have a 69 chevelle with a gen 3 6.0 s475 turbo f body oil pan. I am going to be pulling it over the winter and putting in a gen 4 5.3 with the same turbo and I have been having some oil issues I believe is cavitation above 5k Rpms. I have a Holley dominator edition on it and I am datalogging oil pressure. It climbs to around 50 psi and then levels off and doesn’t climb anymore. I am running an extra quart in it. I was wondering what oil pans everyone is using on the sbe motors. I also have a Melling 10296 pump in it with a red spring and a 1/16 shim in it. I will be changing the pump to 10295 when the other motor goes in.

The ctsv oil pan fits a chevelle a lot better than your f body pan . And is just a better pan for oil control

I run a ctsv pan 8000 rpm 7qts no oil pressures dips or drop off at all with a stock dod oil pump

My buddy runs the moroso oil pan not sure which one we tried up too 8 qts and it’ll make 65ish psi then fall off to 58 ish 10296 pump

if your gonna run a melling pump I would run the 10355hv

Thanks for the response. I will look into that ctsv pan. Anyone else have any oil pans they are using with success.

Stock pan? No fancy baffles? I see pressure drop on my C5 with a C6 pan on the launch at the track unless I put 7qts in.

Well, street pulls. Never took it to the track.

Where is your turbo drain? Jack the car up level and start it. Then add oil until it just starts to come out the pan drain hole. You'd be surprised. Mine barely started to dribble out at 8qts. Run like 1/3 of a QT less and go. Ran the Fbody pan down into the 1.3x range at the track with the front wheels in the air with no pressure drop. (factory DOD pump). most don't overfill enough IMO.

Force fed that is a good idea. I am currently running 7 qts. When I was running 6 qts in it the oil pressure was dropping off after adding another quart it came up with rpm and leveled off at about 50 psi no matter how high I spin it, which has been 7200. The drain for the turbo is in the top of the pan about midway back on the passenger side.

thanks everyone for the ideas.

I have the Moroso steel pan 20140 pan with -10 lines for remote filter. Unfortunately can't say how well it works but fits great for anyone wondering.
