Default Some overdue turbo E85 maintenance

3 month old oil drained...
Looks kinda Orange and weird (cold drained)
2 year old BR7EF spark plugs changed...no idea if they look good or not. New ones gapped at .029" like the old ones.
Now I remember why I waited so long to do it. What a PITA, lol

Midwest says probably a month to get some Strange front DA struts, so that kinda sucks...

Interesting,, That oil looks like a lot of E85 made it past the rings.. Looks like sprint car oil at the end of the night.. LOL
Wonder if the color is the Fuel's DYE package?

I dunno. But I also have never cold drained it.
It has been started and not warmed up several times since its been parked, shuffling it around the shop, and whatnot, for the rollbar install.

As long as it's not metallic looking and nothing in the oil filter, run it. Short run times and E85 can do some strange things.

Yeah, I'm on the East Coast, but it's been pretty chilly here, even inside the shop after heat is turned down overnight.

Here we are this morning...Eff this crap, I'm getting too old for this, lol

I thought so too. I know they can't technically be "read" or whatever, but no aluminum specks, no oil, no smashed ends, no coolant running out of any of the holes...Always a plus

I hear you on the had enough of this **** , I have no e85 experience but curious if the color was even through out or mostly at the bottom (which could mean water and may be of concern) of course if it was run even a bit before draining that would mix it up . Doesn't look like you're typical coolant milkshake though , think you'll be good

Nah, it was Tangerine Orange from drop one to the end, lol.
It has straight distilled water in radiator.
I was under the car doing other stuff and decided to go ahead and pull the plug.

OP, does the plug have another timing mark towards the bend? Those look like they have seen some miles My E85 plugs usually come out looking almost new.

I think it takes me about an hour to pull #8 plug, plus a few words, and about 3 hours to talk myself into actually doing it, lol. I usually will drive around the block if I have to move my car around, so much moisture collects in the exhaust when its cold, so I need to blow the water out, lol.

I actually bought the plugs a year ago...
Pulled 2 or 3 easy ones, which all looked like new, and said EFF IT...

The other day, since it's on a lift, looked up and felt a little antsy, so pulled both 7 and 8 from underneath. All the rest from under the hood. The passenger side, for me, is way easier to remove the stock coil bracket first.

Only maintenance item really left for me to do, since I do mainly run E-85, is firing up my injector machine and cleaning the injectors.

Was the oil old- not in terms of mileage, but from the time you last changed it?

My experience with E-85 (and evidence from my oil analysis) has resulted in the practice of never storing a tank full of E-anything. It's hydroscopic (absorbs water like nobody's biz), so as it absorbs water it will dilute the oil. The longer it is stored, the worse it becomes, thus the more one's oil has less lubricating properties.

Good stuff! Thanks for sharing.

Hardly any miles old, but probably changed early/mid October. During the season, it NEVER "looks" dirty or old, so I just try to change it if it has any smell whatsoever, or every 2 months if I can. It has been sitting inside since mid November, parked after last race, but like said above, it has been started several times to shuffle it around the shop, due to simply being "in the way", and/or while I was doing the prep work for rollbar install. Moving on or off one of the drive on lifts, it isn't possible to push it with this spool fighting you, lol

Nice? Yes, but it's also a curse...just like being the only guy around with a car trailer...or the guy with the truck that your "friends" call to "move" or haul something, lol...
