A&A, ECS or Procharger Kit on a GM performance LS3?
Try this here as the Vette forum is crickets.
I scattered my original LS3in my c6 at 93,000 miles. Seems that a rod bearing decided that it wanted to check out early. She is knocking like a tax collector. It was 498 at the tires on the vengeance dyno and was a lot of fun. Stock heads/intake but had a 235/243 .621"/.624" 113+2 LSA cam, underdrive pully and 1-7/8 heads with the teeny cats which I think are hollow by now. Billy Boat fusions
So I am pulling that motor starting this week. I thought about building a 427 or 416 but just said screw it and bought a GM performance LS3 6.2L 376/495 crate long block with the hotter cam. 219/228 .525/.525 112 LSA. That is on it's way to me being delivered tomorrow.
I don't want the exact same thing I had, so rather than do another big cam I was thinking just drop a little cash on a supercharger and bolt on the power. Of course the normal names are up as options. My goal is 600rwhp safely. Would like to do that without Meth as I drive this car a lot.
- Same exhaust will be used
Questions
- How will any of these kits perform won that LS3 with a 219/228 .525/.525 112 LSA cam?
- Really don't want to change cams but now would be the time if it makes a big difference.
- I loved the chop and performance of the old cam but man did she stink at idle.
- I drove the old one with RPS BC2 in Atlanta traffic so a I certainly don't think drivability will be an issue for me.
- Will one kit truly outperform the others given my HP goal?
- I am not looking to go insane HP on this thing. 600RWHP would make me super happy.
- Would a FAST intake make any difference?
- UD pully has to go right? Slower blower speed, belt wrap all that crap.....
- Thinking radiator upgrade now. I live in GA so it is hot as hell.
If you are a vendor that has one of these kits in stock let me know. Probably wont have the old motor out and new in until after the 4th of July so I can be somewhat patient. Somewhat.....
Absolutely going to do the install myself. I just did the clutch by myself on the ground so I think I am up to the task. Obviously it will be tuned but someone that knows what they are doing. Love the shops around here I just want to do more of this in the garage with my son as he is taking an interest in it now. Need to learn a little more.
Prochargers bracket is lousy
A&A and Kfab have excellent pro charger brackets for the Corvettes.
I recommend a cam change.
Dewitts radiator is MUCH better then the stock radiator
Stock LS3 intake works just fine.

- >> you're going to want to do it down the road. Just do it.

- >> e85 does wonders. I just rolled up the windows and turned on the ac prior to me going e85

- >>theyre all relatively the same. Some have different gearing in their blowers, which from what I read puts the trq at different RPMs.

- >> NEVER ENOUGH. You probably won't notice the difference, and you're going to kick your self in the foot for not "going crazy"
- Would a FAST intake make any difference?
- >> NO. Keep LS3. They flow very well.

Funny thing. My ls3 in my 14 Camaro took a **** also. I was pushing 800whp with my ecs 1500/cam/e85 etc. In the process of doing 408. A little excessive, but I'm going to put a bigger blower eventually.
