Default What happens if my boost reference hose pops off?

I have a stock L33 with 7875 Ebay turbo and boost reference hose on nipple on intake manifold right behind throttle body passenger side, hose then just "tees" out to BOV and WG currently.

WG springs are 12psi and am seeing 10-11psi (165-170kpa) nice steady flat line in the runs. All is working well, running mid 11's at the track. Very happy with everything.

But I understand that as the boost rises behind the WG, the boost is countered by the pressure in this reference line hose "pushing back" in the diaphram keeping boost down to the desired (aka safe) level, right?

So if this reference hose "pops off" at the top of a run will my boost go through the roof and risk harm to engine?

It's a single hose going to the SIDE port of a VS Racing wastegate.

So from the intake nipple passenger side behind throttlebody a single hose goes to a "TEE", which just splits to 1) side port of wastegate and 2) to the BOV.

Works perfectly, just worried about a post I saw elsewhere saying a problem on their hose caused super overboost and blew up their engine.

I think I may have found a failsafe for this anyway.. took quite a while but found a thread here (pasting below) where they are discussing setting fueling to ZERO in the VE in the areas of high Kpa that would be dangerous for the engine. It's mentioned that the tiny amount of fuel at zero VE would not ignite and would be essentially a cutoff. Timing being pulled way back in those areas is also mentioned. I am reviewing those options.

Still curious if a hose with positive PSI (pushing against a wastegate diaphragm to regulate boost) popping off causes a wastegate to make dangerous overboost. Still unclear about that and searches haven't paid off so far for me.

Your fail safe is your 7875, almost no chance of it hurting the engine if your fueling can keep up and timing isn't cranked.
