Default New Build first startup on 93 or E85?

Any advantages or disadvantages to starting up a new build on 93 or E85? Car is flex fueled and using a Goldbox for engine management. I'll be "building" a tune or if I'm lucky someone will have something close enough to start out with.

Just my opinion, I like to start on gas and switch to ethanol later just for the sole reason that engines fire easier on gas when cold and require less fuel so less likely to wash the cylinder down at a critical time.

Kinda where I was at. Only because I had to put new rings in. F'd them up trying to remove them for cleaning.

I fired up my new motor on e85. Three years later no issues and doesn’t use any oil between oil changes. I used driven break in oil and driven 10w 40 conventional now.

Great question. I'm about to fire up my junkyard 6.0 that was run on gas its whole life, but gonna wait until all the bugs are ironed out until I throw another variable in the mix (Ethanol/flex).

Started mine on E85, I don't see the point to start on 93. I only have mine tuned for E85 but at somepoint I'd probably plumb a flex sensor in.

I'm sure the topic is beaten to death on here, but any concern about the tune changing due to variance in alcohol content between stations and seasonal changes? Do you just have it tuned on the gas scale?

Started mine and tuned it on E, then started blending with a flex sensor after about 3 years of driving. Variations of pump E (82-85) were taken care of by the Holley ecu as it’s not that big of a change. If blending fuels in bigger percentages, as long as you’ve got a good table set up for the flex fuel, it’ll be fine. Mine on E60 gets over 20 mpg around town.

If you are going to run flex fuel, it makes the most sense(to me anyway) to start on pump, it makes it a lot easier to tune the adder tables.

I didn't tune mine, Capizzi did, so I don't know.

So far for local driving I don't need flex fuel but if I was driving to WI or something at some point I'd definitely convert over to flex fuel.
