Default Interesting suggestion from NGK

Reached out to NGK regarding a suggestion for my new setup going in this winter. Car is full bolt ons with HCI and compression around 11:0. I'm installing a D1SC setup and plan on staying around 10lb of boost on pump gas and meth.

NGK "Your compression and boost put you in an 8 heat range, TR8IX (3691) is for street use, if it is track use only, please use R5724-8 (7317)

and adjust it to .032”."

Just found this interesting

Most would just run the go to BR7EF. The TT mid 8 sec 6.0 truck I tune does. 22 psi on E.
Folks say there is no business for a projected tip plug in a boosted engine.
The factories must not have gotten that memo, everything from the Hellcats, Demons, supercharged Corvettes, even the Lambo’s run projected tip plugs. The Hellcats projection is huge. Anyway….

However, in my own turbo car I run the R5724-8 (7317)
it’s non resisted. Seems fine. Car loves them. I do tend to get erroneous data in my logs, possible RFI interference? Car runs flawless. I run 24 psi, still basically flat tire boost. 😀

I don’t know much about the iridium Ti8x other than they are real expensive.

I think you will get a cleaner idle with the two they recommended. Other than the iridium, cheap to experiment. Although the days of $1.99 plugs are long gone sadly

The other poster basically touched on it all. The BR7ef have long been a staple in this forum for boost guys. Hell I'm not even sure I've seen anyone discussing boost and the plug the recommended. If they have, I didn't read it. Hell, I've seen guys use TR6s galore.

I personally will not be running the iridium. I have used iridium plugs in 2 of my other cars and was never happy with them.

Guys seem to run tighter gaps on the plugs-I thought I read once where Procharger said dont run the iridium plugs with boost, but that's been a few years ago. I run the #7's with a projected tip, mostly I figured better on the street.

I run the BR7ef's on the street now and they seem to work fine, those are the replacement for the TR7's as well correct?
I won't do the iridium deals either, too expensive and I've had a few friends use them and not be happy with them.
Thought I read somewhere the TR6's were good for moderate boost and street use and the BR7ef's for higher boost but may have slight drivability symptoms on the street, I haven't noticed anything as of yet.
Are both the plugs the OP mentioned iridium style plugs?

No they are not, only the the first option were iridium. I won't be using iridium personally. Despite what they suggested, I'm still thinking of sticking with TR6 or likely going BR7EF
