Default Twin turbo 68 camaro

I don’t post much on here but would like to thank the group as a whole. Mainly for providing good info and help with issues. I feel like I’ve hit some goals so I’d like to post my junk lol.

Car is a full interior 68 camaro , rod and piston ly6, twin FI billet 66’s, 4l80e with a brake, circle d converte,r 3670lb race weight, Holley dominator 4.11 gear and focused on 1/8 mile.

Best pass to date is 5.86 @122 on a less than stellar track. Trying to dip into the 8sec territory which I think I need something in the 5.70s which should be no problem on a good prepped track or a little more testing at my home track.

8 sec. ET should be no problem. You have alot to work with on your 60ft and your 1/4 mile backhalf should be alot better than the front half with the turbo'. Just add some boost.

Yeah definitely…. I do a second gear leave and 4.11 gear…. My limitation right now is shock adjustment…. The rear separates very violently and front comes up too fast….. a little better shock and I’ll be good…. The 5.85 pass was a 50/50 bias with 160 on the trunk so car was roughly 3800lb…

The goal for this year was a 1.3x 60ft and a 5.xx 1/8 so I’ll call it a win for the year!

Caltrac split mono-leafs and some good shocks all around, Vikings are decent, afco or mencer if you have the coin.

What part of the state are you from? We're around the Harrisburg area. What tracks do you go to? Like to see the car in action.

South west pa….. home track is keystone raceway park…. I venture to Quaker city and dragway 42 from time to time but with my work schedule I stick to the closest one.

Got it. It's like a different world over the "mountains". Higher DA's most of the time. Wish you were closer to this area.
Love to see you take the Camaro to Cecil or Mason and make some passes on great prep. Shocks should make a huge difference. Learned that the hard way.
Congrats on the milestones! And X2 on the help around here. Some great guys!

A few upgrades this winter including a better set of shocks and a bigger or additional fuel pump are a must. Also would like to note that a stiff sidewall slick (or radial) is a must for how hard these leaf spring cars separate. The stiff sidewalk 28x10.5 slick was the game changer. I wish I could run a radial but our track will not support it.

I have a friend in NJ with a '69, single turbo, he's been working on his shock settings only thing that's been keeping him from running quicker than 8.8@154. He's running at Atco and Cecil, and Cecil is the better track. He's been on a Hoosier slick but is trying out a set of Radial Pros.

around 7-7200. Converter is really tight so I spin it a little higher bc of the rpm drop

I ran a standard Hoosier slick and just couldn’t get it to work. It smashed the tire so hard when the tire would rebound it would spin. Switched to a Phoenix stiff sidewall slick and it’s been good. The Phoenix tire was smaller than the Mickey and Hoosier so I was able to fit it with stock wheel wells with some persuasion.

He was having a similar problem. Plan next time out is to slow down the rebound and tighten up the compression.

that’s what I needed but I didn’t have the adjustment…. It wasn’t even close….. I will never run a regular slick ever again…. Stiff sidewall or radial

He's running at Cecil this Saturday, first time on Pros. Fingers crossed! He's got some good guys advising, Capizzi and Ron Rhodes gave him some advice too.

He had a solid first outing, went from a best of 8.8@154 in mineshaft air to 8.70@155 on radial pros.

radials are the ticket…… but having a few of those names in your corner when helping tune a car helps lol
