Default Gt55 knock offs

I'm going to pull the trigger and do a gt55 knock off. Vsracing 106 or the on3 107. Main differences I see is

1. turbine housing- on3 dual v-bands 1.30 AR stainless Housing and vs is a t6 1.24.
2. Weight-on3 says 39 pounds and vsracing says 70 pounds. Maybe cause of on3s stainless exh housing.
3. Compressor- on3 billet and vsracing looks polished cast but haven't called yet.
4. Company- both have always been good to me.

Looks like on3 on paper but i just have this gut feeling to go vsracing. This isnt will this work for my combo post. its a what do you suggest for the better of the two ching Chang turbos. What says everyone.

VS would get my vote, had a couple friends use On3, had issues and were left out to dry.
Take that at face value.

what sucked about it specifically. I was a little leary of the on3 because it has been out for awhile and I never see anything about them short of a couple guys on YouTube. Would love to hear your personal experience.

I've seen 1200 pretty regularly on the 107 on3. Seems like a no brainer if that's around the ball park of the power level you want. Much cheaper and much less weight. Its what I was going to try before settling on twins.

I'm wanting 1600hp capability. Have you ever seen anyone push the on3 harder like that.

I haven't, and doubt seriously the VSR would do it either. If you truly want that kind of power, I wouldn't be looking ad "budget" turbos. IMHO Twins are more economical and easier to package than a huge single. Esp for that lofty of a goal.

I honestly haven’t seen very good results from either the vs or on3 but I would go vs over the on3

also can check out sewerpickle he sells gt55 clones as well and can check out pulsar they have g57 clones and I’ve seen some of there smaller turbos do really well

I have the new VSR g57 and making well over 1600HP. you can see strong opinions above with ZERO data but at the end of the day Id love to see someone actually prove to me this newest gen VSR isnt the exact thing as a G2/57 garret. Every single part and piece is interchangeable, you would lose track of which is which trying to take them apart on the bench.

Looking at the latest and greatest 113mm turbine "big turbo" from VSR isn't a "budget" turbo anymore, they are $2300+... I was comparing the on3 and VSR versions of the 103mm turbine that can be had for $950-1050.

Believe that green mustang that crashed at LS fest was in the 4's as well with a methanol 5.3 and ON3 107.

He did not crash at LS Fest but at a later event. But that's the Mustang.

The cheaper On3 and VSR large frame turbos are turds. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with them, just that they won't make anywhere near the power a quality turbo of that size will. Mavn on here who already posted had the On3 94mm and it crapped out at like 950 rwhp which is crazy low for a GT55 knock off 94 IMO. A real one will make 1400-1600 RWHP. I would go with a TDI personally or the new more expensive nicer VSR unit. They're likely priced similarly.
