Default Opinions On Heat Shielding

What does everyone think about heat shielding on manifolds or headers. Will it change under hood temps very much? Any significant HP gains? Is it worth spending a few hundred for coatings or shields?

Not needed for stock manifolds. Tubular I'd a different story. Plenty wrap them. Otherwise turbo blanket and wrap the hot side and call it a day.

Wrap the pipes, leave the cast pieces bare or paint them, turbo blanket is a must.
You will be amazed how much of a difference it will make in cutting down heat soak under the hood.

I agree with everyone here. I wrap the cast manifolds too but it isnt really necessary I just like the way the lava wrap makes it all look. It hides my roll of dimes, nickels and filled holes possible pennies and stuff welds too. Lol.

I usually wrap everything hot, I even wrap the cold side if its where the radiator can blow hot air on it. Its more about not melting stuff around it. This time I tried those expensive coatings, I dont think they worked better than wrap, so I wrapped them.
Mainly just love picking fiberglass or whatever out of my hands when working around the stuff, lol.

I've thought about having my pipes coated and it's still a possibility, but I'm going to wait and run the car at the track in the spring and see if there are any leaks. For this reason I won't have stuff coated black because it would be harder to see cracks and soot marks.
