383 LS1 D1X Build Plan

Arrow 383 LS1 D1X Build Plan

Hey all looking for some expertise/guidance on my build plan or power levels.

I have a 02 Camaro with FLT built 4L60E, 3600 FTI stall and MWC 9", the suspension is also built out. I have full exhaust (kooks 1 7/8 with cats, which will be removed, going back to a magnaflow catback). Meziere EWP. I have upgraded fuel system but I am planning to upgrade this some more to comfortably support 800rwhp.

Overall this is a street car. weekend warrior garage queen. I do plan to beat on it and take it to the track once in a while but above all else it is a street car and must be livable in traffic and cruising.

I plan to refresh my 383 and include a new cam and upgraded valvetrain. the car currently make around 420rwhp/400rwtq. I would like to see 700 or more on this build if possible.
New cam is likely to be this spec:
224 degrees of intake duration @.050"
238 degrees of exhaust duration @.050"
.604" intake valve lift with a 1.7 rocker arm
.595" exhaust valve lift with a 1.7 rocker arm
119 degree lobe separation angle
115 degree intake centerline

My heads are old but AFR 205's milled 61.5 and Mamo did all his special work to it (though it has been 13 years now...). Also have a Mamo ported FAST 92 and 92mm throttle body. I wil use meth injection to keep IATs down, not for power. No E85 where I am at so have to live on 93 octane. I am also planning for a FMIC to help feed it and keep temps down too.

Should be able to get there with that set up. My car just made 730whp with a d1sc on 13-15lbs. I’m on e85 with a Darton sleeved 430” but with small mildly ported 243 heads. This was through a th400 and a very loose converter and 12 bolt rear on slicks.

I made 825 on 17# on pump gas 93 with my 383, twin turbo. Through a T56 and a 9"
Car made over 1000 on 21# on E85 when i sold it.

Currently building it now with a big single 88 and shooting for 20#+ again

hmm dont think comparing a 430ci engine is close to a 383 haha but gives me perspective.

seems between both of you the boost is 10-20 # to get you where you are.

Yes, but I’m on a regular d1sc and a th400 with a super loose converter. D1x is supposed to make more hp when you spin them higher.

My car made 616 rwhp / 560 rwtq. 383ci 10:1 compression, 317 heads, very mild cam, M6 transmission, D1SC head unit making 8-9 #'s of boost. I'm currently spinning my D1 to 51,000 rpm with a max of 62,000 rpm, so not even maxing out the blower. Also when I had my car tuned I was living in Utah and the car made this power at 5,300 FT/elevation 91 octane / meth injection. I moved back to the Pittsburgh area a few years ago and haven't had it on a Dyno yet down here with some dense air (800 FT / Elevation) to see what it currently makes. The D1x should easily feed that motor 15# + that would be enough for 700+ hp. I would add a meth kit to your build and make sure the Procharger setup is on some type of spring tensioner belt system to keep belt slip to a minimum. Good luck.

I believe Procharger recently improved the Fbody mount which drastically reduced belt slip issues on that platform. The D1x can easily make 700 rwhp on pump and meth. With E85 they've made over 800 rwhp.

I am around the 10:1 compression like conan. I already plan to add a meth kit to help with AIT, not for power. and I only have access to 93 octane, no E85 nearby. The D1X seems like the right path for me. I'd be extatic with 700rwhp or more ha.
