Default Analyze my spark plugs

How do these spark plugs look to you guys? The driver side plugs all have a little bit of oil it looks like. The passenger plugs are all dry but have some red splatter on them. My car runs on e85 and about 12-13lbs of boost with a d1 ProCharger. Timing is 16 degrees. The spark plugs have about 20 street miles and 3 1/4 mile passes on them.

Is it just me or does that look like rust? Did it sit for a while before you pulled the plugs? From what I can see the timing mark on the strap looks safe , need some others to chime in

I don’t drive the car very much, take it around the block maybe once or twice a month. The plugs are from march so about 9 months old. Took it out to the track the weekend before this past weekend. Car ran fine, I didn’t notice any misfires or anything.

One bank rusted and the other not?
If so, certainly an issue.

Can’t read a plug with street miles and multiple passes on it… At least not well. Esp. not fueling.

To me, it looks like that “splatter” is molten metal from detonation. Might be why it rusted or corroded so quickly. Though the molten metal form detonation is almost always aluminum… so hard to tell. Looks like little ***** of molten metal to me… that’s always bad. I’d drop it to 12* and make a pull with a new set of plugs. Then shut the car down, and pull over immediately and pull/read plugs.

I generally do this once (or go to the track and do it). Then once you find the leanest/hottest looking plug. Just swap that plug out between runs. Better to start out excessively low at say 10-12*. Then work your way up a degree at a time reading plugs and watching MPH at the track. (or with a draggy).

Regardless of what people say....E85 doesn't need a lot of timing. Give it what it wants, will be different for everyone.

Heat mark on the strap should be about half way down or less IMO for a “safe” street tune. Yours look a little hot, but hard to tell with that many miles/runs. Plug should still pretty much look new with 1 pass on E85.

Here is one of mine on a very "safe" tune for reference.

Good luck!

Thank you. I will swap new plugs in, go make a hit and check them.
