Default Should I go catless on a pd blower car?

I was told that going catless would be the way to go for a car with a PD Blower, is this true? I make a little over 1000hp at 18 psi with my 2650 and currently have ARH headers, high flow cats, exhaust and Borla cat back...

I noticed the cats do get alot more hotter than the rest too...

Why would you remove them? More power? Then yes.

What fuel do you use?

I don't know what the chances are but the reality of it is that a failing or failed cat can damage a high horsepower engine. So a simple failure can turn into a lot worse.

My opinion, once you get over around 600 wheel it might be best to go catless.

I can honestly say I've never heard of anyone with custom built stuff running cats on 1k wheel horsepower.

1000whp with cats? Dang. Surely there's power to be had with a de-cat.

Hey guys its 1000hp at the crank, dyno was around 852whp/785tq at 18 psi boost. It's a flex tune so I can run E85 or 93. I mostly run E85 except for winter storage.

You'd net some ponies. Catless 93 smells horrible to me now though, my 2010 is like that. I just run the '67 on e.

Demon 170 runs 8s through cats... cannot see why you would remove them.

I've never run cats on a boosted car so my comments are 3rd party, I hear cats don't like heat, fuel, and being on the 2 step. Causes melty lol.

OP could add cutouts too.

It depends on the type of cats. GESI Gen 2 cats will support big horsepower without failing if the tuning is correct.

If you don't absolutely have to have them, why take a chance? Add to that the fact that they are not cheap for a set that has a chance to live at those power levels. If they are doing what cats are supposed to do, I bet they offer a fair bit of restriction too.

Whatever restriction you have on the backside is going to create more boost and intake air heat on the front side.

Not at all. Same exhaust front to back as most every Scat Pack, Hellcat, and Redeye built since 2015. That said, the factory cars use a predictive over temp protection to help preserve them. But, none the less these cars run 11s, 10s, 9s, and 8s just fine through them. Sure, if you are going to run tunes or systems that will abuse them it would be best to avoid adding them in.

But, factory take-off cats are available from people who remove them for noise or ignorance purposes.

When I last had my TVS2300 blown GTO on the dyno, it made slightly more horsepower with the headers connected to the exhaust (with high flow cats) than it did with open headers.

Here are some check hi flow cats in 3".... $109 each 200 cell no mention of flow rating.
https://privatelabelmfg.com/products...42275512549514

I run my turbo LS9 RX-7 on e85 no cats.... and it isn't too stinky... but cars on unleaded smell so bad to me without cats. On my LS7 RX-7 I run dual high flow Random Technology cats and it still does 111mph 1/8 and 138mph 1/4 on the motor thru them.
