Default 4.8 with aps extream kit boost questions/advice.

Hey folks, I posted over at yellow bullet and I’m not getting to many replies. So I’m here for the some knowledge. Not sure if any of you remember the APS kit offered back in the day like 2010 or so. Well I happened to get my hands on a brand new in box extreme kit from a user here. It’s a twin set up with what I believe are 6266 turbos that were custom by aps. They are t3 hybrid td04 turbos. I understand that the aps kits had problems with oil burning and blown turbos but that was with the standard kit. The extreme kit didn’t have the same issues. From what I gathered the root of the problem stemmed from too much back pressure and the thrust bearing giving out allowing oil to get by. That being said I went with a 4.8 to reduce back pressure and also because I’d like to spin the motor to 7.5 or 8k which would be less strain on the set up due to the crank and rod ratio then if I were to use the ls1. So you guys think that the turbos would be too laggy for a daily driver set up? That is what I am essentially going for. Kind of an OEM+ set up. Im wanting to be in full boost by around 3k rpm. Just to add, Iooked up 2.4 L Honda build with similar size turbos to reference responsiveness. Is that a logical step into figuring this out? Since each bank of the 4.8 is. 2.4L with is own turbo? Thanks in advance. I’m open to all input/criticism/advice.
-Alexander.
Just for further clarification the heads I’m running will be afr205 and the cam is most likely going to be custom, along the lines of a ls6 style. I just don’t want the cam to be too noticeable. It’s kind of a sleeper build, full 2.5 exhaust with auto cutouts for when the turbos are in full swing. Sorry for the long initiation.

I don’t know all of the particulars but Huron speed is selling the APS kits. You may reach out to them.

Yea they recreated the original kit with some changes I believe. That’s a start. I could pick there brain and see what they think the performance would be out of a 4.8. I know joenova did a similar build on here with 50mm t3 turbos but he hasn’t been active in a few years.

I think 62/66s would be great on a 4.8. You didn’t say how much weight is involved or how loose of a converter but I’d say move forward and enjoy. I have the Huron APS kit with 62/66s (I think, I’ll go look and make sure edit if I’m wrong) on a 5.3 L33 with a BTR Twin Cam. Have to go look at which one but not radical one for sure. BTR Twin T Stage 1 222/230 ish

My Precision 76/75 CEA (Huron v3 AC Kit) was so much better on the 4.8 than my 6.0 that I’d never underestimate the 4.8 combos. Would have put the twins on the 4.8 (still in the garage) except I wanted to lose the 100lbs on the front.
