6.0 LQ4-Boost Build Swap
I'm currently in college so my pockets aren't too deep but I have some money saved to play around with.
I plan on doing a single turbo top mounted set up. I'm aiming for around the ballpark of 650rwhp. This will be a street/track build. Mid to High RPM power. Air to air intercooler
There's a good deal near me for a full kit 76mm magnum unknown rest of parts, thinking maybe 10 pounds? Change out bov and all the clamps for reliable better known ones if its Chinese stuff, run new oil lines too, anything else recommended?
I have 317 heads currently but I plan on swapping them. I've gone ahead and done research already but I keep running into contradictions. I've been following some old videos by the driveway engineer claiming that the best bang for my buck is running stock 862/706 heads on my LQ4. I also spoke to some local builders around me and they told me that 706s are trash and 862s aren't good for my application. They recommend me to get into 241s or 243/799s. I have access to all of these heads locally for around the same price give or take (200-300 bucks). What do you guys think?
In this I know I'll be changing my compression ratio. Aiming for a 10/1, is that safe or should I aim lower? I'm okay running pump or e85 as it's locally available to me.
Keeping stock crank. Are forged rods/pistons needed for this power? Or can I get away with upgrading to just stock Gen4 rods and Ls2 Pistons as I've seen others do. Is that reliable? ARP head Bolts (or are head studs really that much better?) As for a cam I'm still waiting to see as CR is yet to be determined but recommendations welcomed. Thanks in advance, new to all this and want to do it right .
Run the stock rotating assembly as well, at 650whp it's not even leaning on it.
Plan to run E85 if possible, it's a superior fuel compared to pump gas and will make hitting your goals a breeze, the problem will be you wanting to turn it up more after a year.
