Default Info for bigger K&N Filters inside

These are what Tom and I are running if anyone needs it for reference on ATI set-ups. Really important to run the RU-1030 if you have a BOV and big boost set-up. The inlet hat only flows so much thru the main filter and is limited on cfms due to the 90 of the hat being very short. Pics attached.

RU-1785 Inlet hat
RU-1030 Inlet hat/Surge Pipe

Awesome idea with the second filter. Thanks for posting the part numbers. How are you attaching the smaller filter to the inlet hat? Very good timing.

It just sticks over where the original bypass hose was hooked to and clamps on, I did the same thing except my filter was a little smaller. I have one of the E-1796 K&N filters here if someone wants one also, looks the same as the RU-1785 add it fit fine in my car. Only has 5 dyno pulls on it and its new in the box - someone paypal me 20.00 and they can have it

BTW, I picked up 1.5 psi of boost taking the inlet hat off on the dyno, unfortunately I couldnt figure out anything better to do then the way it is. I'm sure ou guys spinning up the blower higher will notice much more of a difference..

Hence the inlet hat/filter restriction. Supposedly you need 4" straight out from the impeller at a minimum for max cfm flow for a D1SC at 62,000 rpms. I plan on taking my inlet hat off at the dyno and possibly the track as well.

Thats why the A&A C5 kits make excellent numbers, 1.5' long 4" pipe almost straight into the inlet

But unfortunately on an f-body that little thing called the radiator/core support is in the way I'm sure someone can move the radiator forward and get a better inlet in there it would make a big difference when you are spinning it up, that inlet hat is crap. I was going to make a velocity stack kinda thing with a screen for the track but never got around to it..

Or just replace the radiator with one that isn't as wide.

Im going to order both of those filters. How much were they? I can push my radiator forward becaus ei have no A/C....... To do that do you just leave the stock ATi bypass hose just hanging there?? Is that what you guys are talking about when it sounds like a street sweeper coming down the street?? Any Pics of how the bypass is with this inlet hat on and the bypass hanging so im sure im doing it right??
Thanks
