Default Need some 101 for tuning

I have a 6l studded built with a carb blow through 80mm on 7lbs for safety. Car has the stock program in it from MSD in the 6ls. I need a baseline tune to get the car driving as it will run now but I know it is not safe. Is there a rule for timing vs boost while reading a wideband to keep the fuel safe? Car does have a little BTR stage 2 cam in it. What is a good safe tune and what can I do as far as timing and boost and fuel. Plans are to put it on 15lbs of boost eventually.

I'm unfamiliar with the curve in the 6LS, but you'll want to run about 18-19* of timing at 7psi to be safe. The wideband measures fueling, at 7psi on gas you're solid at 11.2-11.5 at that low of boost without risk of trashing anything. 15psi and good fuel (meth inection?), you'll want to run 12-14* to be safe, but always check a fresh set of plugs. Fueling, I tend to like closer to 11.0-11.2 in that range.

Agreed. Good safe starting point would be 11.0 A/F while in boost and ~12-14 deg of timing. You can turn up the timing and lean it out a smidge when you get to a dyno or have a chance to do it with plugs at the track.

Our pleasure. I'm still curious what fuel you're using, it'll heavily affect timing potential when you turn the wick up!

Pretty sure all your timing advice above was based on the assumption of Pump Gas

Oh yeah. You can go pretty crazy with advance with REAL gas!

Start safe, and read a fresh set of plugs after a pull. Find the hottest cylinder, check fueling, heat and timing on the strap, then advance with a fresh plug in the hottest cylinder and repeat.

So I got my tune out of the 6ls. Car cranks and goes to 34 degrees of timing at 1000 rpm. Then ramps down to 15 degrees at 3000 on ro 7000 putting 4 degrees back in by the map... Is this Ok? I have it saved and can send it to anyone with MSD Data Pro software...

Is it a real blowthru carb, boost ref power valve, something like CSU's-pay attention to the spark plugs.
