KC Maxx is using compressed air super charging
Five years ago I didn't think we would be seeing toter homes hauling in race cars with billet screw blown hemi's and having brand new noonan and proline billet motors sitting ready as backups rolling into these podunk 1/8th mile tracks, but here we are.
Basically this type of racing got so popular the purses grew so the big money guys decided they wanted to play in the small tire game also.
What used to be a budget heads up deal is now a big money game. I still love it as a fan, but locally it has killed car counts since a lot of guys have given up on it.
Fun to watch these guys take this CAS tech and do so well in just a couple months.
There was at least one pretty bad wreck I saw on the live stream. Guy went across the track into the opposite side guard rail nearly head on. He busted up the guard rail pretty bad then into the section where it turns into concrete wall and caught on fire. He got out of the car pretty damn quick but then laid on the track for a long time and they took him to the hospital. Haven't heard about his condition. That was in one of the "slower" classes too before they started small tire. I think they had... true street, hard tire, stick shift, 26" gangstas, big tire, and small tire classes. Small tire had something like 48 entries, and the place was packed.
Several live streams on youtube if you want to watch.
It's crazy how often he changes the combo but even crazier how many races he hits across the country. It seems like he is making long distance trips every week. Alot of the top small tire guys around here don't really travel further than one state away or race as often as Ryan does, amazing level of dedication to the sport.
Congrats to Ryan and crew on the W.
I hope to attend the fall one even if it's just for a day.

Jon maybe we will see you down there in the fall! We are going for the weekend.
Went last spring and can easily say one of if not the best events we have ever been to. Especially if you are into no prep!
I'm curious if this is nearly as easy as Ryan makes it look. Obviously, he's a smart dude and has been doing this type of racing a very long time. I wouldn't expect just anyone to switch to CAS and have immediate success like this, but it does seem amazing for 1/8th mile blasts at a time.
I like the idea of air quality not making any difference. This would be a huge advantage at high altitudes.
For comparison I’m assuming I am much lighter at 2400lb race weight. Gate pressure for me was 7psi creeping to 8. I went 10.0x (crap 1.5 60’) @ 138 on cam only SBE 5.3.
You’d get a few pulls on low boost if you had the 200cu ft bottles. Esp 1/8th mile.
They just need to quick fab up a mechanical air pump on the diff that tops the bottles off @ 3000psi as you cruise. Easy peasy...

That would be interesting, probably not worth it though with the size of the pump required to fill that tank and how long it would take even with a decent sized compressor that could actually fit in a car.
ya I understand what he meant and I thought it was obvious this wasn’t an ideal setup for a daily driver. My comment was just my poor attempt at being funny.
Would be a costly R&D nightmare for sure. Cleanliness is super critical too. Any sort of contaminants or water will ruin things quick. One of the reasons the scuba air pumps are so massive. Doubt there's an economical way to get an compact reasonable onboard pump to charge the tanks. Sure would be cool though!
