Truth, its that whe F1 cars use. You can make a core many times more dense than the standard cores by 3d printing them. Though it sounds like they are one off units printed by that company now So i'm sure they are crazy expensive.

That is outstanding. Lets hope we see some trickle down sooner rather than later.

I wonder what the flow rates of one of those are lol. Looking at the size and the the smaller turbo its on they have to be pretty restrictive.

No way they'd use them in F1 if they weren't super effecient. Company reached out to me and basically blew me off when I said I didn't want 10+ of them custom made.

Oddly enough the rep reached out to me today with the information I requested back in march.

Basically the smallest unit is the 4.5” and its $2500.

Super compact but doesn’t flow enough. I’m getting about 69% eff on a basic 7800RPM 5.3 at 25lbs. Should see temps around 130*F. Thats using ambient 86* water. Around 100* with ice water. Around 3psi pressure drop.

The largest “shelf unit” is a 6” and is $5500! Lol

But would be 92% efficient and work well with 1.4psi pressure drop or so getting temps down to 100ish.

wow 3psi pressure drop over something that is like 6" long. You can get a really nice A2W or a A2A and have alot of money left over lol.

Yea I agree. You'd think ultimatly 3d printed parts would be much cheaper as theres no real labor/fabrication or welding required. Yet it seems the opposite it true.

I would be surprised if they even spend $400/part having them 3d printed, including post processing. The rest is "OMG F1 tech" pricing.

The tech isn't quite there yet, at least at large scale. That part has 1.5kg of raw material, most aluminum bulk powders are roughly $100 per kg. Then you factor the machine burden rate on a machine that costs 1/2+ million dollars and you can quickly see why they have to charge what they charge to make money. We are a few years away yet from the widespread proliferation of "cheap" SLM printers that will drop the cost significantly.

I'm def. not up to date in the 3d printing world. Thanks for chiming in. The send cut send type places that do the metal 3d printing seemed semi affordable. Just need AI to design us a print file for these ultra effeceint IC's. lol
