Default Update and Shakedown passes.

Well i got my car back from wheel to wheel saturday, must say they did an excellent job on wireing it up and had great turnaround time. They put a base tune to make it safe till i get Rob Raymer to tune it at the track. I have to get my alternator converted over to a "One Wire" setup now beings the FAST will not make the alternator see the signal to charge any more. And get the Autometer Fuel level gauge to work properly. It may be the wrong one its a 90 ohm full and 0 ohm empty. Other than that its all ready to go. Besides a few issues with spark. I took it to the local 1/8 mile track and ran. It went 7.00 to 7.12 all 4 passes. At mph 97 to 100. All the 60' times were 1.50 on the back tires It does a good wheel stand and carries it out past the tree. Got it on camera. Leaveing off the brake on 9 psi. The belt must be slipping cause thats all it will make. Scott told me it made 15 with the twin intercoolers. Its pretty tight now, guess i can crank it down some more cant hurt anything. Also around 5000 rpm or so it cuts out bad and falls on its face. I have the plugs gapped at .034. Could it be blowing the spark out? Kurt told me to try .025 and switch the coil packs out off my truck cause they have more fire power. Any ideas on that? Im stumped and need some more help. Thanks Justin

Did you go standalone Justin?

I am running a FAST standalone.

Listen to Kurt. He told me to get a set of the truck GM Melco coils and trays and I did but I did not put them on immediately. My car ran great but it would not pull past 5500 it sort of sputtered. I immediately pulled the car back into the warehouse and swapped over to the truck coils, trays and a set of MSD truck wires... pulled to 6800 just fine after that. I have run my car up to 7000 a bunch of times now. I also am running a set of AC Delco plugs that Kurt reccomended and the gap is in the .025-.030 range. They seem to be holding up well have not fouled out so far. Keep us posted!

Wow, I was always told that you couldnt make boost off the line with a s/c. Even on a t-brake or 2-step. I guess thats incorrect or did I misread something.?

You can't make boost on a turbo on a manual car unless you have the 2-step . . . is that what you were thinking?

He made boost off the line, 9psi he said.

Justin as a counterpoint my 10.3 was with a 105mph 1/8th. The guys going 9.8-9.99 go around 110 in the 1/8th. I made no boost off the line and took a while to get into boost. I'm sure you will get there. Take the belt in your hand and make sure that you have very little side to side flex. It should be taut.

Yea John its full standalone now. Im gonna change the gap on the plugs and switch the coil packs and see if it makes a difference. The car wouldnt go anywhere after 5000 rpm just sit and sputter. Belt is pretty tight i can maybe push it up 1/4" . Im gonna try to tighten it more just to the point of breaking and see if it get me more boost. Anything else i can try?

With the 8 11/16 crank and 4 3/4 blower pulleys the blower should spin to 67,000 rpm. If i had no slip how much psi should i see? I think the blower flows 1500 cfm.

I had a bad coil which worked fine until 4500 rpm then the mis-firing occured. My T-trim which flows 1250 cfm sees 12# on a 418 so I would think 15# or so for you.
