Default Good/bad day at the track...

I had a hunch that the car was running lean so I addded a second walbro 255 inline to complement hte 255 intank I already had. After a day full of 120.XX mph passes (still at 4 psi) ,solid 12.5s no traction 2.3 60s lol, I think the stock motor gave up the ghost. After what was a strong run I pulled over to get my slip and I heard knocking. I didn't notice anything during the run that would have alerted me to a problem. But it knocks real loud at idle now, I can't notice it at any cruising rpm. The famous give away of smoking out of the valve cover cap is present too.

Im not mad, just more dissapointed that I didn't get to push the stock motor further. I know I wasn't pushing it very hard, I was just pushing my own luck by not having larger injectors and a tune.

Oh well, time for forged bottom end
Ive been researching the diamond pistons, how cone on all sites that I read say the piston is for boost is a flat top? All the dished pistons listed seem to not fit a 3.905 bore. Id like to reach 8.5 or maybe even a little less CR with the stock heads.

Also what kind of rings do you guys recommend?

Sorry to hear

Get good rods while you are at it. APE and other sponsors sell 348 shorts pretty cheap and ready to bolt in

Wonder why they show the rings selling sperately then. I will call them to make sure after I knwo what parts I need.

What CR woudl those pistons give on an otherwise stock motor?

I don't think rods are a necessity under 700rwhp.....it's been done too many times. If you want the insurance, go ahead as some do but I have yet to see a rod failure unless you are shifting at 6800+ Now you will need quality arp rod bolts.

My bad, mine were part of a GP that I started so I got a complete package(pistons and rings) for a decent price. But the wrist pins were included with the pistons, the rings were seperate.
Try to start a GP on the sponsor board, it might save you some cash
